I feel like there are black spots floating in front of my eyes. What disease is this?

If you always feel that there are black spots floating in front of your eyes, you must be alert. The most common reason is floaters, which is a relatively serious disease and will not be cured if you do not pay attention to proper treatment. It may even cause the patient to be at risk of blindness. Patients often feel abnormal flashes and always feel that their vision is blocked. At this time, they should go to the hospital for examination and regular treatment in time. Let us learn about this aspect.

I feel like there are black spots floating in front of my eyes. What is this disease?

Patients with floaters will have black spots in front of their eyes, and they will fly around with the rotation of the eyeballs, like floating mosquitoes. Their shapes may be round, oval, dot-shaped, line-shaped, etc. It is common that patients are more likely to notice its presence when looking at a brighter background such as the blue sky or white walls.

Here are some dangerous symptoms of floaters:

(1) There are abnormal flashes.

(2) The number of floaters increases continuously within a short period of time.

(3) The sense that one’s vision is obstructed.

Since a few cases of floaters are a sign of serious illness, experts believe that if you find a group of floaters dancing in front of your eyes, you should first undergo a specialist examination. After the examination, if you unfortunately have a serious eye disease, you should receive treatment for that disease.

But the results of one inspection do not mean that there will always be no problems. If there are flashes of light, a sudden increase in floaters, or if your vision is blocked, you need to undergo a detailed examination immediately.

Floaters refer to small black shadows floating in front of the eyes, which are more obvious when looking at a bright white background and may be accompanied by flashes of light. Vitreous liquefaction and posterior dislocation are the main causes of floaters. 70% of patients are caused by this, but 1/4 of patients may have vision-threatening lesions, the main of which is retinal break formation. When floaters are seen, the pupil should be dilated and the fundus should be carefully examined, including a slit lamp and three-mirror examination. If only posterior vitreous detachment occurs, no special treatment is required. Lesions that are harmful to vision should be treated according to relevant principles.

Intraocular inflammation causes floaters, and the black shadows in front of the eyes are mostly dust-like or floc-like. Vision may be affected to varying degrees. Dust-like and floc-like floating objects are found in the vitreous body under the ophthalmoscope. The three-mirror slit lamp can reveal pathological changes such as exudation caused by mid-peripheral choroidal inflammation and white sheathing of blood vessels.

Floaters caused by intraocular hemorrhage feel like moving smoke or ink-like black shadows in front of the eyes, and sometimes there are red or orange floating objects. Under an ophthalmoscope or slit lamp, flake, floc, and mass hemorrhages of varying thickness can be seen in the vitreous body, and the primary retinal lesions that cause the hemorrhage can be seen. Bleeding caused by traction of blood vessels by posterior vitreous detachment is often accompanied by retinal tears, which should be paid attention to. If the floaters are not pathological, it is recommended to see a Chinese doctor. The efficacy of Chinese medicine cannot be ignored.

The above content describes some dangerous symptoms of floaters. Through understanding, everyone has more knowledge about floaters. At the same time, when facing a disease like floaters, we must have a comprehensive understanding. If we pay attention to floaters, we need to consider some necessary symptoms, so that we know what floaters are.
