Because we have ribs on both sides of our chest cavity, rib inflammation on both sides of the chest is not a very rare problem. There are many causes of chest skin diseases, such as chest rib inflammation, or bacterial infection leading to problems with heart valves and atrial function. There are more than ten types of these. Pleurisy, also known as "pleurisy", is an inflammation of the pleura. Pleurisy is inflammation of the pleura caused by irritation of the pleura by pathogenic factors (usually viruses or bacteria). There may be fluid accumulation in the chest cavity (exudative pleurisy) or no fluid accumulation (dry pleurisy). After the inflammation subsides, the pleura may return to normal, or the two layers of pleura may adhere to each other. It is caused by a variety of causes, such as infection, malignant tumors, connective tissue diseases, pulmonary embolism, etc. Generally divided into the following: ① Fibrinous pleurisy: also known as "dry pleurisy", in which a small amount of fibrin exudes locally in the pleura without pleural effusion. It is mostly caused by lung inflammation spreading to the pleura. Most cases are asymptomatic, but a few patients have localized needle-like pain. ② Serous fibrinous pleurisy: also known as "exudative pleurisy", is the accumulation of serous and fibrin exudates in the chest cavity, often caused by tuberculous pleurisy, purulent pleurisy, and tumor pleurisy. Chest pain and shortness of breath are the main symptoms. ③ Tuberculous pleurisy: It is caused by the tuberculosis bacteria reaching the pleura from the lymph nodes of the primary syndrome through the lymphatic vessels, or the tuberculosis lesions under the pleura spreading to the pleura. The main clinical manifestations include tuberculous dry pleurisy, tuberculous exudative pleurisy, and tuberculous empyema. There are often chest pain, shortness of breath and symptoms of tuberculosis poisoning. ④ Tumor pleurisy: caused by intrathoracic or extrathoracic cancer directly invading or metastasizing to the pleura. The main symptoms are chest tightness, progressive dyspnea, and corresponding symptoms of the primary lesion. ⑤ Purulent pleurisy: mostly caused by infection of the lungs, esophagus, abdomen, etc. spreading to the pleura. Symptoms include chills, high fever, chest pain, cough and expectoration of purulent sputum. ⑥Fungal pleurisy: mostly caused by actinomycetes and Candida albicans invading the pleura. ⑦ Connective tissue disease pleurisy: common in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. The main manifestations are chest pain, shortness of breath and symptoms of the primary disease. ⑧Cholesterol pleurisy: The pleural fluid contains a large amount of free cholesterol crystals, which may be related to fat metabolism disorders. The clinical symptoms are mild. |
