Symptoms of perimyositis

Symptoms of perimyositis

Myositis is a skin disease, most of which are pathological and accompanied by severe skin damage, even multiple, which can cause pain, even inability to touch, and erythema. For these symptoms, you need to go to the hospital first to do relevant examinations and find out the cause.

Dermatomyositis (DM), also known as poikilodermatomyositis, is an autoimmune connective tissue disease. It is a non-suppurative inflammatory lesion that mainly affects striated muscle and is characterized by lymphocyte infiltration. It may be accompanied by or without a variety of skin lesions and may also be accompanied by various visceral lesions. Polymyositis (PM) refers to diseases in this group without skin lesions.

Symptoms and signs

The diagnosis is generally not difficult based on the patient's symmetrical proximal muscle weakness, pain and tenderness, accompanied by characteristic skin lesions such as purple-red edematous macules centered around the orbit, Gottron's sign and rigid and dilated capillary erythema of the nail root folds. Combined with the increase in serum sarcoplasmic enzymes and CPK, LDH, AST, ALT and aldolase, increased 24-hour urinary creatine excretion, and if necessary, combined with changes in electromyography and biopsy of the diseased muscles, the disease can be confirmed.

It can occur at any age, with women accounting for a slightly larger proportion. Some cases are preceded by prodromal symptoms such as irregular fever, Raynaud's phenomenon, joint pain, headache, fatigue and weakness. Most cases have a slow onset, while a few have acute or subacute onset. Muscles and skin are the two main groups of symptoms of this disease. Skin lesions often precede muscle onset by weeks to years. A few have myopathy first and then skin lesions. Some patients have both muscle and skin disease at the same time.
