There are many patients with clubfoot in our lives. For patients with clubfoot, they may not be able to walk steadily, and they need to rely on something for support after standing for a long time. This phenomenon of patients can actually be corrected by their own willpower, but the key is to persist. If you give up halfway, you will definitely not achieve the desired effect. So what are the methods to correct clubfoot?

1. Stand on one leg

Lift the other leg slightly. If you feel unsteady, you can use support. Then transition to standing without support. Do this several times a day for about 20 minutes each time.

2. You can also kneel on the bed, place the affected leg flat and steady in front of you, straighten your body without lifting your hips, hold your arms with both hands, stretch them straight up and forward to maintain balance, and persist for about ten minutes.

3 Stand in a slight squat position with your legs held for about 5 minutes.

4 Squat down and stand up with both legs 20 times and gradually increase to more than 60 times.

5. Raise your legs alternately, 30 times each, to exercise coordination

When doing the above movements, you must pay attention to keeping the hip joint balanced and not tilt too much forward or backward or left or right.

6. Exercise leg strength and gradually transition to standing on one leg. If you feel unstable, you can hold on to something. You don’t need to use corrective shoes. For patients who feel uneasy, you can choose a single-strap ankle guard. Don’t use it for too long.

7. Pay attention to your center of gravity when walking, and avoid moving forward, backward, left, right, or shifting your brain's attention. You must focus on your feet and body posture. Your body posture must be correct, stable, and balanced from top to bottom. Make sure your feet are flat before taking the next step.

8. When wearing shoes, choose shoes with flat, wider and harder soles, not narrow ones.

9. Soak your feet every day and massage the soles of your feet, rub the tender points on your toes, or pinch the reflex area corresponding to the big toe at the base of your nails, so that the brain can be activated and stimulated.

10. If conditions permit, you can walk on pebbles to stimulate the part where the soles of your feet touch the ground. You can wear training shoes and cotton socks at the beginning, until you walk barefoot.

This method is very practical. In fact, it corrects the balance of the tendons on both sides of the sole of the foot (surgery can also correct the length of the tendons that control the sole of the foot, but I estimate that the inversion of the foot caused by a stroke is due to damage to the cranial nerves that control the balance of the sole of the foot, causing the tendons that control the sole of the foot to lose control, rather than a real problem with the sole of the foot tendons. The effect will not be good. It will not be like a deformed foot from childhood, which will be corrected with surgery when you grow up).

The inability to stand or stand steadily just proves that the key to solving the problem of inversion of the foot is to grit your teeth and practice standing on one leg, allowing the brain to create a new balance. This is the reason why traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes the practice of "Standing on One Leg".

In fact, I practiced for about 20 days when I was 8 months old, and my inversion was corrected relatively well. Now I can walk without inversion. If I am not concentrating, I will sprain my ankle occasionally.
