Are dark purple lips hereditary?

Lips are an important part of the human body and play an extremely important role in health and image. The phenomenon of lip diseases is quite common in life. Most symptoms of lip diseases are caused by diseases in other parts of the body. Therefore, they have a certain health indicator function. The change of lip color is the most obvious. For example, dark purple lips are more common. Let's take a look at whether dark purple lips are hereditary?

Purple lips are related to insufficient blood flow in local blood vessels, and may also be due to genetic reasons. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for a color ultrasound to see if there is any valvular insufficiency. If there is no problem, it may be related to genetics.

Purple lips are a typical manifestation of a relative decrease in oxygen content in the blood. It is more common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema. Due to long-term hypoxia, the hemoglobin concentration is relatively high, and some hemoglobin is not oxygenated, so the lips appear purple. In addition, when a patient with congenital heart disease has right-to-left shunt, a large amount of venous blood enters the arterial system, so the lips appear purple.

The lips turn dark purple because of lack of oxygen. When the weather is cold, blood circulation is poor, which causes the lips and nails to turn dark purple. It is recommended to do a heart function test. As long as the heart function is normal, no treatment is needed.

Other reasons:

1. The most common cause is cyanotic congenital heart disease, which is usually accompanied by clubbing, which is swelling at the end of the finger;

2. Sulfhemoglobinemia or congenital methemoglobinemia, without other symptoms;

3. Drug-related methemoglobinemia;

4. Lung diseases and pleural lesions are usually accompanied by obvious symptoms.

Such people may have problems with their digestive system; if pigmentation appears on the edges of the lips, it may be due to kidney dysfunction; black and purple lips are an obvious symptom of blood hypoxia; other symptoms such as pneumonia, heart failure, asthma, cor pulmonale, constipation, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may also cause this symptom. There are many reasons for black lips, so you should not take it lightly. You should ask a doctor to check, find out the exact cause, and treat the disease in time.
