Are the ovaries ovulating alternately?

As we all know, women have two ovaries, one on the left and one on the right. The ovaries on both sides are generally the same, but sometimes they are different in size. A woman's two ovaries will ovulate, but if there is some disease in the ovaries, the ovarian function will decline, which will affect normal ovulation. So if both ovaries are healthy, will they ovulate alternately?

Are the ovaries ovulating alternately?

Normally the ovaries ovulate alternately; this time the left ovary ovulates, and next month the right ovary ovulates. A normal woman ovulates once a month. If a couple has normal sexual intercourse, they should have a chance of getting pregnant. If you are anxious to have a child, it is recommended that you go to a professional hospital for a check-up.

When the follicle reaches 18-25mm in diameter, it will be discharged naturally. The size of the follicle when it is released depends on the individual. Some follicles are released when they grow to 15mm, while others need to grow to 25mm. Follicular development is a continuous process, and the normal follicle diameter should be between 18-25mm.

The growth from primary follicle to mature follicle can be divided into 8 levels. It takes a total of 10 days from the 6th level follicle to the 8th level follicle, which is exactly the follicular phase in a menstrual cycle. Starting from 16mm, after another 2-3 days, it will develop into a 20mm follicle and then be discharged.

When is the egg released? The egg is released about 14 days before the next menstrual period. The day the egg is released is the ovulation day. To be on the safe side, the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, are called the ovulation period. Women with irregular menstrual cycles cannot use this method to predict when the egg will be released, but they can see whether ovulation has occurred by measuring basal body temperature, observing cervical mucus, etc. During the ovulation period, the body will experience some subtle changes, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as slightly higher body temperature, lower abdominal pain, and breast tenderness.

What does ovulation feel like?

If you have these feelings, it is likely that you are ovulating or have just ovulated.

1. Lower abdominal pain: When the egg is discharged, it needs to break through a thin membrane follicle that wraps the surface. A small amount of fluid in the follicle will flow into the lowest part of the pelvic cavity, causing a small amount of bleeding. At this time, you will feel pain in one side of the lower abdomen, which will be relieved after a few hours.

2. Increased vaginal secretions: Vaginal secretions increase significantly and appear watery, transparent and clear. Women will feel their vagina is wet and slippery, and when they wipe it with toilet paper, there will be egg white-like strips of mucus.

3. Ovulation bleeding: After the follicle is discharged, the estrogen level drops sharply, causing local rupture and shedding of the endometrium, resulting in breakthrough bleeding. The amount of bleeding during ovulation is small and usually stops on its own within 2-3 days, and can last up to 7 days.

4. Slightly high body temperature: The body temperature is slightly higher when the egg is released, but the change is not obvious, generally fluctuating around 0.5 degrees Celsius.

5. Breast pain: During ovulation, the estrogen level in the body increases, breast hyperplasia, and edema of interbreast tissue lead to breast pain.
