Can surgery be performed on patients with 700 degrees of myopia?

Myopia is a very common phenomenon in daily life. There are many reasons for myopia in daily life. Some people have severe myopia, while others have mild myopia. Mild myopia can usually be cured by daily maintenance or correction. However, for severe myopia, many people will undergo surgery. Can surgery be performed for 700-degree myopia?

Can I have surgery for myopia of 700 degrees?

People with myopia of more than 700 degrees can undergo myopia surgery. Laser correction surgery is now very mature and it is the only way to treat myopia. However, due to different personal constitutions, it is not suitable for everyone. It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. If you are qualified, you can have the surgery and then choose the type of surgery according to your own situation.

How to Correct Myopia

1. Frame glasses are suitable for developing adolescent myopic patients. They should be checked every six months and the lenses should be replaced regularly. The advantages are that it is safe, effective, economical, and can be replaced as refraction changes. The disadvantage is that the correction effect is not ideal for patients with high myopia, anisometropia (large difference in the degree of myopia between the two eyes), large astigmatism and mixed astigmatism. There are problems such as small field of vision (things appear smaller than they actually are, and things outside the frames on both sides of the eyes are still not clear), susceptibility to trauma, eye deformation, etc., and the correction effect will be affected if the lenses are not replaced in time.

2. Corneal contact lenses Corneal contact lenses are divided into orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses), ordinary contact lenses, and high oxygen permeability contact lenses.

1. Orthokeratology (OK) lenses: Suitable for young myopic patients with good economic conditions, who should go to ophthalmic medical institutions for regular check-ups. The advantage is that it can effectively control the development of myopia while correcting it, and facilitate teenagers' daily study, physical exercise and life. The disadvantage is that it requires high eye hygiene and care when removing and putting on glasses, and the cost is relatively high.

2. Ordinary contact lenses: not suitable for adolescent myopic patients and myopic patients working in poor working environment. The advantages are beautiful appearance and wide field of vision. The correction effect for patients with high myopia and anisometropia is better than frame glasses. The disadvantage is that long-term wearing will cause corneal hypoxia, resulting in the formation of new blood vessels in the cornea, conjunctivitis, corneal infection, ulcers, and even blindness in severe cases.

3. High oxygen permeability contact lenses: suitable for adult myopic patients with good economic conditions and special groups such as those with keratoconus, high astigmatism, and high anisometropia. The advantage is that it has the advantages of contact lenses while greatly reducing the risk of corneal damage due to lack of oxygen. The disadvantage is that it is expensive and requires going to an ophthalmic medical institution for fitting.

3. Drug treatment: suitable for pseudomyopia caused by ciliary muscle spasm. The advantage is that it can relieve the fatigue of the ciliary muscles of the eyeball and has a certain effect on pseudomyopia. The disadvantage is that it has no definite therapeutic effect on true myopia.

4. Myopia surgery: suitable for myopic patients over 18 years old who want to take off their glasses and can afford the cost of surgery. The advantages are that you can take off your glasses once and for all, the correction effect is good, and the indications are wide. The disadvantage is that the one-time surgery is expensive and has certain surgical risks.
