Can I take a shower right after the infusion?

Infusion is a very common treatment method in medical treatment. When the body is sick, infusion can quickly inject nutrients and anti-viral drugs into the body, thereby helping the body recover faster. So, can you take a shower right after an infusion? Actually, it is not recommended. Because for many people, the blood volume in their bodies increases after infusion, if they take a shower at this time, they are likely to feel dizzy and weak.

Infusion, or large-volume injection, refers to a large dose of injection introduced into the body by intravenous drip, with a single dose of more than 100 ml. It is a branch of injections and is usually packaged in glass or plastic infusion bottles or bags and does not contain antibacterial agents. When using, adjust the drip rate through the infusion set to continuously and steadily deliver the drug into the body.

According to clinical requirements and the nature of the infusion itself, the infusion has the following characteristics:

1. The infusion volume is large, and the requirements for pyrogens, clarity, sterility, pH, osmotic pressure, etc. are more stringent than those for small-volume injections. The pH is close to the pH of body fluids to avoid excessive acidity or alkalinity.

2. Infusions are generally packaged in sealed neutral hard glass bottles and lightweight special plastic bottles or bags. The volume of infusion is generally above 100ml, and the largest is 1000ml. It is widely used in clinical practice for the rescue and treatment of critically ill patients.

3. Suspensions and oil solutions cannot be used for infusion. Generally, clear solutions are made and mostly administered by intravenous drip.

4. Infusion, especially certain blood volume expanders such as dextran injection, requires certain blood rheological properties such as colloid, specific gravity, viscosity and retention in order to increase plasma volume.

5. Infusions mostly use water as the solvent and no antibacterial agents should be added. The process from preparation to sterilization should be completed within 4 hours.

The quality requirements for infusions are basically the same as those for injections, but because the injection volume of this type of product is larger, the requirements for sterility, pyrogen-free and clarity are more stringent. In addition, the following quality requirements should also be noted: ① The pH should be close to the pH of human blood while ensuring the efficacy and stability of the product. Too high or too low will cause acid-base poisoning; ② The osmotic pressure should be isotonic or hypertonic; ③ No antibacterial agents should be added to the infusion, and the quality should be stable during storage; ④ It should be non-toxic and have no side effects, and should not contain foreign proteins or antihypertensive substances that cause allergic reactions. It should not cause abnormal changes in blood counts after being injected into the human body, and should not damage liver and kidney functions.
