What kind of people do mosquitoes like to bite

There is a rather strange phenomenon in life. Some people are bitten by mosquitoes all the time in summer, while some people may not be bitten more than twice in a summer. From this, it can be inferred that mosquitoes will also select the people they bite. For those with sweeter blood types, they are more attracted to insects. Moreover, mosquitoes prefer darker colors, just like women wearing black stockings are more likely to be bitten. So what kind of people do mosquitoes like to bite?

1. Mosquitoes like people with well-developed sweat glands and high body temperature

People who like to sweat have higher acidity in their blood. The sweat they secrete makes the lactic acid level on the body surface higher, making it attractive to mosquitoes.

In addition, there is a heat-receiving body in the mosquito's antennae, which is very sensitive to temperature. It can immediately detect any temperature difference. People who sweat dissipate heat quickly and are also attractive to mosquitoes.

2. Mosquitoes like people who are tired or have a fast breathing rate

Mosquitoes find their prey by smell. Carbon dioxide has a strong attraction to mosquitoes. Mosquitoes have carbon dioxide receptors on their small antennae that can sense carbon dioxide, lactic acid and other substances. Mosquitoes can detect the carbon dioxide released in human breath from 15 meters away.

After engaging in exercise or physical labor, a person's breathing will speed up, and relatively more carbon dioxide will be exhaled. The carbon dioxide gas will form a moist and warm airflow about 1 meter above the head. Mosquitoes are more sensitive to this and will come to them by smelling the smell.

By the same token, people with large lung capacity or a faster breathing rhythm exhale more carbon dioxide, which mosquitoes will swarm around when they smell it.

3. Mosquitoes like people wearing dark clothes

Because black is the preferred target of mosquitoes, such as Aedes mosquitoes (also known as flower mosquitoes), they like to land on black clothes the most.

The next most popular colors are blue, red, green, etc. Mosquitoes don’t like to bite people wearing white clothes. Similarly, mosquitoes like to bite people with darker or reddish skin.

4. Mosquitoes like people with fast metabolism

Generally speaking, men are more attractive to mosquitoes than women, young people are more attractive to old people, and healthy people are more attractive to sick people. This is because there are more secretions on the skin surface.

During menstruation, women's secretions change and become more attractive to mosquitoes. Mosquitoes have a "food-attracting" tendency. This is not because some people have delicate skin and sweet blood that attract mosquitoes as people imagine. The main reason is that some of the smell on their bodies attracts mosquitoes.

5. Mosquitoes like pregnant women

Pregnant women are particularly susceptible to mosquitoes. A US medical study shows that pregnant women are particularly attractive to mosquitoes, and their chances of being bitten by mosquitoes are twice as high as other women.

6. Mosquitoes love babies

Mosquitoes love to bite children, mainly because children send strong "information" to mosquitoes. Through the spread of air, it can guide mosquitoes to find "food", that is, the object of biting, more conveniently and quickly.

There is some truth in the saying that "mosquitoes always like to bully children". This is because the amino acids and lactic acid in human blood combine to form a complex amino acid mixture, which combines with the slightly sweet amines in sweat to form trimethylamine. The smell of trimethylamine has a strong mosquito-attracting effect.

7. People who wear makeup.

Most cosmetics such as hair spray, hand cream, and facial cleanser contain stearic acid (a type of fatty acid), which is very attractive to mosquitoes. Therefore, on summer evenings, it is best to go out with a bare face and not wear makeup.

8. People who drink alcohol.

Studies have shown that people are more likely to be bitten by mosquitoes after drinking alcohol, eating beef or mutton, or taking antihypertensive drugs.
