Can the baby drink water immediately after drinking milk?

We all know that babies generally need to be breastfed. If there is enough breast milk, the baby can be fed in this way all the time, but if there is not enough milk, milk powder is needed. Different substances in milk powder can promote the baby's growth and development, but there are many things to pay attention to after the baby drinks milk powder. For example, after a baby finishes drinking milk powder, he should not drink water immediately. Why is that?

1. Infants under 6 months old

Babies do not need to be specifically supplemented with water before 6 months old, because the water in the breast milk or formula milk that the baby drinks can meet the baby's body's needs for water. Of course, it is also good for babies at this stage to drink some clean water to clean their mouths after drinking milk. It is also important to prevent milk residue in the mouth from becoming a breeding ground for bacteria.

Therefore, the main way for babies to replenish water at this stage is to drink milk. Mom and dad must ensure that the baby consumes enough milk every day. If the baby is breastfed, the mother should feed breast milk frequently to ensure the baby's water needs; if the baby is formula-fed, the parents should be careful not to use too much water when making the milk powder. If the baby is unwilling to drink formula milk, parents can feed the baby with a nice and cute bottle to reduce the baby's resistance.

At this stage, parents should be careful not to insist on feeding the baby water based on adult ideas. When the baby is full, he has actually taken in enough water. If the baby consumes too much water, it will increase the burden on the baby's kidneys, causing the baby to urinate frequently during sleep, affecting the quality of sleep.

2. Babies from six months to one year old

After the baby is over six months old, with the increase of complementary food and the decrease of milk intake, the water intake of the baby through daily diet can no longer meet the baby's body's demand for water. At this stage, mom and dad need to give their baby extra water.

Mom and dad can give their baby 100 ml of water each morning and evening, and add appropriate amount of water to the baby's complementary food, so as to basically meet the baby's water needs at this stage.
