Does vinegar harm teeth?

Vinegar is a very common condiment in life. Its main function is to add a little sourness to some dishes. Therefore, some people who like sour food like to eat vinegar. But if you often eat vinegar, you should know that if you drink too much vinegar, it will make your teeth feel uncomfortable. This is mainly because vinegar has a corrosive effect on teeth. So, will vinegar as a condiment harm human teeth?

1. Brushing your teeth with vinegar can damage your teeth

I believe many of my friends have had the experience of soaking eggs in vinegar. Often, it only takes one night for the eggshell to become soft. In fact, this is because vinegar is an acidic substance that has a softening and corrosive effect on many things, and teeth are one of them.

Often holding vinegar in your mouth and brushing your teeth does have a certain effect in whitening teeth, but the effect is very slight. If you don't pay attention, you may not even see it, which is the same as having no effect. Moreover, this whitening effect is based on damaging the teeth.

You should know that doing this frequently will cause the enamel on the surface of the teeth to be corroded by vinegar. After the enamel is corroded, the body of the tooth will be corroded. If this continues for a long time, the teeth will become thinner and smaller. Even the surface of the teeth will be corroded by vinegar into extremely irregular shapes. Furthermore, the whitening effect achieved with this method is only mild and short-lived.

Because, after using this method, although the teeth will become a little whiter, under the influence of food and air, the teeth will return to their original state in a few days, and in severe cases they may even turn yellow and black. Therefore, friends who have this habit must change it.

2. Bad habits that harm your teeth

1. Take big bites of the apple. Try to avoid chewing hard and crunchy fruits and vegetables such as apples and carrots with your teeth, as they are the biggest culprits of tooth cracks. These foods can be cut into small pieces for consumption. Similarly, chewing ice can also cause teeth to break.

2. Chew corn. Chewing corn can easily cause teeth to loosen or fall out, and can also cause dentures to shift. It is recommended to peel the corn kernels before eating.

3. Not rinsing mouth after eating noodles. Refined pasta such as bread will increase the acidity in the mouth, corrode tooth enamel, and easily remain in the gaps between teeth. Therefore, rinse your mouth carefully after eating noodles.
