How to wash away blood stains that have been there for a long time

In our daily life, I believe that many female friends will have such experience. When they encounter their menstrual period, they always accidentally stain their clothes and bedding. It will be very embarrassing when they find it, and it will be troublesome to clean up. Or some people may accidentally touch a certain place and stain blood on the cotton cloth of clothes. When something is stained with blood, you need to do some corresponding treatment according to different materials. As long as you find the right method, the blood stains on clothes and other things are easy to clean.

Method introduction:

How to clean blood stains after a long time

Soak and rinse with warm or hot water: Blood stains contain protein, which will coagulate when heated and become more difficult to remove, and will easily leave yellow stains. Similarly, white vinegar cannot be used to wash blood stains.

Soak in cold water for a long time: This method is ineffective for old blood stains that have already dried and hardened, and it may even cause the blood protein to release and stain white clothes yellow.

Bleaching with bleach: It will damage clothing fibers. If the rinsing and cleaning is not thorough, the chemicals in the bleach will cause the skin in the private parts to become allergic and rough.

Concentrated laundry detergent water:

Do not soak the clothes with a large amount of laundry detergent mixed with water, unless it is enzyme laundry detergent. Ordinary laundry detergent will lighten the color of the blood stains, but will leave stubborn yellow marks.

Soaking for a long time without washing: If you cannot clean it immediately, it is better to let the blood stain dry than soak it in water and cause bacteria to spread. No matter what detergent you plan to use, soaking it in clean water for 3 to 5 minutes is the best pre-treatment method.

Send large blood stains to dry cleaners: If the sheets are stained with large blood stains, try to wash them at home with hydrogen peroxide. Dry cleaners use ammonia or sodium hypochlorite solution that is harmful to the skin for cleaning. If the clothes are not rinsed thoroughly, they may cause skin allergies and chronic damage.

Drying the blood stains without washing them thoroughly: Try to wash the clothes stained with blood at one time. Don't hold the idea that "the color will gradually fade after washing several times". Clothes with blood stains that have been dried in the sun, ironed, or tumble dried in a dryer will have deeper color fastness, and the blood stains will only become more stubborn.

Tips for cleaning blood stains that have been there for a long time:

If the blood stains on the clothes have solidified into old blood stains, how to wash them? First, you should soak them in cold water for a long time. Because when the blood has not coagulated, the iron in hemoglobin exists in the form of ferrous iron and is soluble in water. Over time, the ferrous iron in hemoglobin is oxidized into ferric iron and coagulates with protein, forming blood stains on fabrics that are difficult to wash off. You can use enzyme laundry detergent to soak for a long time to remove blood stains between fibers. The alkaline protease in the enzyme laundry detergent can relax and disintegrate the protein in the blood stains and peel it off the fabric. If it is still not clean, wipe the stained area with tartaric acid solution or ammonia water (10%), or scrub it with 10% to 15% oxalic acid solution for 1 to 2 minutes, because oxalic acid is a reducing agent that can reduce water-insoluble trivalent iron to water-soluble divalent iron.
