Left frontal lobe glioma

Left frontal lobe glioma

There is a type of tumor that grows in the brain, namely the left frontal lobe glioma. Tumors occurring in the brain are also very dangerous. Although some patients have undergone surgery, some were not successful and some even left many sequelae due to the surgery. Brain tumors are related to infection, trauma, or radiation exposure, but the specific causes are unknown. However, patients should maintain a good mood, strengthen exercise, and improve their own immunity.

Frontal lobe tumors are part of a cerebral hemisphere tumor. In a narrow sense, it refers to tumors within the brain parenchyma, including the most common gliomas arising from the neuroectoderm. In a broad sense, it also includes extracerebral tumors in the frontal region, the most common of which are meningiomas originating from the arachnoid membrane. Among the lobes of the brain, except for the occipital lobe, the chances of developing tumors in each part are roughly equal.

Causes

For common frontal lobe tumors such as gliomas and meningiomas, the causes are still uncertain. It may be related to certain internal environment changes and gene mutations, and is not caused by a single factor. It may be related to factors such as viral infection, craniocerebral trauma, and radiation exposure. Pathological factors may cause cell chromosome mutations or increase the rate of cell division.

The factors that are generally considered to induce tumors include:

⑴ Genetic factors: Some tumors have a clear familial tendency to occur. The retention and ectopic growth of embryonic primitive cells in the brain is also an important cause of intracranial tumor formation.

⑵Physical factors such as ionizing radiation have a more certain correlation. The relationship between trauma and intracranial tumors is still difficult to determine.

⑶ Chemical factors such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines. Most of them are indirect carcinogens that need to be metabolically activated before they can cause cancer.

⑷ Viral factors: Complete pathogenic viruses and viral particles have not yet been isolated from human brain tumors, but many DNA and RNA carcinogenic viruses have been found in animals, among which RNA viruses-retroviruses are particularly important.

treat

Treatment mainly includes:

Control intracranial pressure

① Dehydration treatment;

② ② In emergency situations, ventricular puncture and external drainage of cerebrospinal fluid are performed.

Surgery

① Tumor resection;

② Tumor resection + internal decompression surgery;

③ Decompressive craniectomy;

④ Palliative simple cerebrospinal fluid shunt.

Embolization therapy

It is mainly used for meningioma, can reduce bleeding during surgery, and is an auxiliary treatment method.

Conventional whole brain radiation therapy or gamma knife therapy

It is suitable for patients with intracranial tumors whose general condition does not allow surgical resection and who are more sensitive to radiotherapy, in order to delay tumor recurrence or inhibit tumor growth to prolong the patient's life. It is applicable to brain glioma, multiple brain metastases, etc.

Chemotherapy

It can be used as supplementary information for patients with postoperative recurrence suppression, brain metastases, primary or recurrent lymphoma, and inoperable tumors. In addition, the impact of radiation necrosis caused by radiation on brain function should not be underestimated.

Gene therapy

It is not mature yet.

For tumors of different pathological types, different grades of the same type of tumor, and different patient conditions, it is necessary to follow corresponding clinical guidelines to guide treatment and select sequential plans.
