What to do if you are stung by a moth

What to do if you are stung by a moth

There are many small insects around us, especially in places with dense trees. Some small insects are just a little annoying and will not harm people. Some small insects are poisonous. If you are stung by accident, you can handle it yourself if the situation is not serious. If the situation is serious, you need to go to the hospital for treatment. The sting moth is a poisonous insect. What should I do if I am stung by a sting moth?

The scientific name of the yellow pepper moth is Acanthopanax spp. When a person is stung by it, the itching is unbearable, and it becomes stinging after scratching. Repeated scratching can cause the poisonous hairs to penetrate deeper into the skin. When treating the affected area, you can use medical adhesive tape or a sterilized needle to remove the stinger first, then clean the wound with soapy water or alkaline solution, and finally apply medicated oil. Because its stings are poisonous, if the affected area becomes red, swollen or inflamed, you should go to the hospital immediately.

During the tree growing season, people who manage fruit trees, forests and nurseries are often stung by the venomous stings of the larvae of the spiny moth (Acanthopanax spp.), which cause itching or redness and swelling.

There are many types of spiny moths, the common ones are: yellow spiny moth, flat spiny moth, green spiny moth, Chinese green spiny moth, brown-edged green spiny moth, pear spiny moth, etc.

Their body surfaces have tumor-like protrusions and spines, some of which have poison glands that can secrete venom. When the thorns penetrate the skin through the pores, they can cause pain, itching, redness and swelling. If not treated in time, the pain may last for several days. Skin without pores (such as the palm of your hand) will not feel pain or itching due to being pricked.

The method to relieve the pain and itching is: after being stung, catch 1-2 caterpillars in time, tear the insect body with your hands, and apply the body fluid to the sting, applying more is better. The pain and itching will be relieved immediately after application, and the pain, itching, redness and swelling will be eliminated in a short time.
