Sometimes people may feel that their eyes are a little yellow, but they don’t take it seriously at this time. If it is your symptom that requires further examination, it is best to go to the hospital for relevant examinations. This way, you can avoid whether there will be any lesions inside your body. In fact, sometimes the reason for yellow eyes is because you already have liver disease. Age-related macular degeneration Age-related macular degeneration is divided into two types: dry and wet. Dry AMD is also called atrophic AMD. The most common symptom is mild blurred vision. If not controlled, it will develop into a severe type, wet AMD, also called exudative AMD. Wet AMD often causes severe visual impairment, accounting for 90% of severe visual impairment caused by AMD. The main cause of visual impairment is the growth of abnormal new blood vessels under the retina, causing retinal hemorrhage, edema and destruction of retinal tissue. Patients may become blind within 2-3 months. All of this will seriously affect the patient's physical and mental health. Juvenile Macular Degeneration Juvenile macular degeneration usually begins during the growth period of permanent teeth and is an autosomal recessive genetic disease that originates in the retinal epithelium. Once an attack occurs, it will endanger the eyesight of teenagers and even cause blindness. However, scattered hair is not uncommon, and it mostly occurs in children of close relatives. Both eyes of the patient were affected, the disease progressed synchronously, and there was no significant difference between the sexes. A large number of studies have shown that the occurrence of AMD is related to age, genetics, and environmental factors such as long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays, environmental pollution, smoking, and decreased blood antioxidant levels. People over 50 years old, those with a history of diabetes, hypertension and smoking, or those who work outdoors for a long time are all at high risk of age-related macular degeneration. In addition, studies have shown that women are more susceptible to the disease than men. Macular degeneration refers to the natural result of aging. With age, retinal tissue degenerates and becomes thinner, causing the function of the macula to decline. There are two symptoms: age-related macular degeneration and juvenile macular degeneration. When macular degeneration affects the pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium and causes detachment, it can cause vision loss or distorted vision. If a large amount of blood enters the vitreous body and causes a sudden drop in vision, it can lead to blindness. |
