The dangers of sleeping with ears plugged

Many people require an absolutely quiet space when they sleep. Any slight noise will disturb their sleep, so they choose to plug their ears when they sleep. Especially in collective life, many people choose to plug their ears when sleeping in order to avoid being disturbed by others. In fact, although plugging your ears when sleeping can block out external noise, it is very harmful to the human body. So what are the dangers of sleeping with your ears plugged?

Noise-isolating earplugs are also called anti-noise earplugs, soundproof earplugs, anti-noise earplugs, sleeping earplugs, and quiet earplugs. It is usually made of silicone, low-pressure foam or high-elastic polyester. After being inserted into the ear canal, it is in close contact with the external auditory canal to isolate the sound from entering the middle ear and inner ear (eardrum), achieving the purpose of sound insulation, so that people can get a quiet rest or work or study environment.

Wearing earplugs when sleeping can be used to prevent external noise interference and help sleep, but experts remind that long-term wearing of earplugs should avoid adverse effects on health:

1. Wearing earplugs when sleeping. If you press the earplugs when sleeping, the earplugs may be inserted too deep, which can easily wear out the skin in the ear and cause infection over time.

2. Earplugs will block the air circulation between the ears and the outside world, affecting the normal humidity and blood circulation in the ears, causing bacteria to breed in the ears.

Therefore, when choosing earplugs, it is best to choose those with softer texture, natural materials, and only cover the surface of the ear. Earplugs are hard in texture and designed to be inserted deeper into the ear, which can easily damage the periosteum. In addition, chemical fiber materials are prone to generate static electricity, and minerals and metals have radioactive effects, which are not good for health.

Earplugs can only block out noise and have no effect on sleep disorders caused by other reasons. If it does not help you sleep after using it for a week, you should not continue to wear it. Instead, you should adopt other indoor sound insulation methods to reduce noise and avoid interference.
