What medicine to take for rhinitis and pharyngitis

There are many patients with rhinitis in our lives. In fact, rhinitis is a very difficult disease to treat, and they are particularly prone to recurrence. People with rhinitis are also very likely to catch a cold. We all know that the seven orifices of the human body are interconnected, so when we have rhinitis, it may also cause some pharyngitis and tinnitus. So what medicine should be taken for rhinitis and pharyngitis?

What anti-inflammatory drugs are good for nasopharyngitis?

Inflammation of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, submucosal and lymphoid tissue is called nasopharyngitis, which is divided into acute nasopharyngitis and chronic nasopharyngitis. Patients with nasopharyngitis have dry and uncomfortable nasopharynx and sticky secretions that are difficult to cough up, so they cough frequently, often accompanied by nausea. In severe cases, there are local or systemic symptoms such as hoarseness, sore throat, headache, dizziness, fatigue, indigestion, and low fever. Examination of the nasopharynx revealed chronic congestion, hyperplasia, and hypertrophy of the mucosa, covered with secretions or dry crusts.

1. Patients with nasopharyngitis can take roxithromycin capsules and metronidazole, etc. However, if there is no infection, you can take anti-allergic drugs such as tefilin. Patients can also try oral or nasal second-generation or new H1 antihistamines on their own, which can effectively relieve symptoms such as itchy nose, itchy ears, itchy throat, sneezing and runny nose. If the symptoms of nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing are severe, you can rinse the nasal cavity with 0.9% isotonic saline solution and add medications such as gentamicin, dexamethasone or furosemide to achieve more obvious swelling and inflammation reduction effects.

2. For those without systemic symptoms or with mild symptoms, local application can be used: gargle with compound borax solution, various lozenges and Chinese patent medicines can be used as appropriate. Antiviral drugs can be used according to the cause of the disease. In addition to the above treatment, patients with severe systemic symptoms accompanied by high fever should rest in bed, drink plenty of water and eat liquid food. Antiviral drugs can be administered intravenously, and antibiotics or sulfonamides can be used at the same time.

3. Patients can take lysozyme tablets, domifen throat tablets, iodine lozenges, etc. Gargle with compound borax solution, chlorhexidine mouthwash, or warm salt water. In the early stages of the disease, 1% iodine glycerin or 2% silver nitrate solution can be applied to the pharyngeal wall to help subside the inflammation. For nebulization or fumigation treatment, antiviral drugs can be used for viral infections, and antibiotics can be taken orally or injected for bacterial infections.

Alternatively, patients can also use cryogenic plasma micro-invasive treatment for nasopharyngitis. The principle of low-temperature plasma ablation therapy is to form a highly concentrated area of ionized particles around the electrode through a conductive medium (salt). These particles can separate molecules and reduce tissue volume (the temperature of plasma low-temperature ablation therapy is between 40° and 60°). It does not directly destroy tissues and causes minimal damage to surrounding tissues. It takes a short time and has a rapid effect. It has relieved the disease troubles for many nasopharyngeal patients.

To sum up, if the condition is mild, anti-inflammatory drugs can be used appropriately, but once the inflammation becomes drug-resistant, the patient should not hesitate and should seek medical attention immediately to avoid delaying the condition.
