When you go shopping in a supermarket, you should see lilies in the dry goods section. Lily is not only an ornamental flower with a charming fragrance and beautiful appearance, but because there are many different varieties of lilies, some varieties of lilies can also be dried and used as medicine. Not only that, lilies are also found in some eight-treasure porridges. But what specific diseases can lily treat for the human body?

The magical effects of lily

When it comes to lilies, everyone must be familiar with them. Both lovers and couples like lilies very much because they have a very good meaning - a happy marriage for a hundred years. Although the main application value of lily lies in its ornamental value, some varieties of lily can also be eaten as vegetables and used as medicine. Modern pharmaceutical research has found that lily is also an excellent product for nourishing the stomach and fighting cancer.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, lily tastes sweet and slightly bitter, is neutral in nature, and enters the heart and lung meridians. It has the functions of moistening the lungs and relieving cough, clearing the heart and calming the mind. It can be used for residual heat after fever, restlessness, palpitations, trance, chronic cough due to tuberculosis, hemoptysis, lung abscess, etc.; or when you feel hot after eating too much fried, stir-fried, or deep-fried food. The famous prescription "Lily Gujin Decoction (Pill)" is a famous prescription for treating lung injury, sore throat, cough, asthma, sputum and blood. It uses lily as the main medicine, and is supplemented with raw and cooked rehmannia, ophiopogon japonicus, Fritillaria thunbergii, etc. At present, Chinese medicine often uses lily formula to treat oral ulcers, Behcet's syndrome, chronic pharyngitis, tuberculosis, etc., which can be effectively treated with proper differentiation of syndromes.

Through the study of the chemical composition of lily, it was found that lily contains colchicine and other biological alkaloids and nutrients such as protein, fat, starch, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, β-carotene, etc. It has good nutritional and nourishing effects, especially for physical weakness after illness, neurasthenia and other symptoms. Generally, you can use 120 grams of fresh lily, add honey and steam it until soft, and eat one piece of it from time to time. Or you can take several fresh lilies, mash them into juice, mix it with warm water and drink it, or you can cook it and eat it.

Clinical pharmacology studies on lily have found that lily is effective in treating stomach pain. For example, for epigastric pain caused by stagnation of heat, use 20 grams or 30 grams each of lily and dandelion, 10 grams each of Linderae scabra, stir-fried Citrus aurantium, and stir-fried Fructus aconiti Lateralis. Take one dose per day, decocted in water, and taken all at once after dinner. For those with severe pain, take one dose each in the morning and afternoon. Research in recent years has further revealed that the ingredients contained in lily have a strong inhibitory effect on experimental mouse sarcoma-180 and cervical tumor-14, and can also significantly inhibit the mutagenic effect of aflatoxin. It is often used clinically as an adjuvant treatment for leukemia, lung cancer, skin cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, breast cancer, and cervical cancer. Especially for those who experience physical weakness, dry mouth, irritability, dry cough with little sputum, hemoptysis, body heat, palpitations and insomnia after surgery or radiotherapy, add appropriate amount of sugar or honey and take it with dinner or in the afternoon. Regular consumption can moisten the lungs, clear the heart and regulate the middle, relieve cough, stop bleeding, stimulate appetite, calm the nerves, help strengthen the body, inhibit the growth of tumor cells, and relieve radiotherapy reactions.
