Can orthodontics change the shape of the face?

However, it should be understood that orthodontic surgery cannot change the face shape unless there are some particularly prominent dental symptoms. Because orthodontic surgery cannot significantly reduce the size of the jaw, it naturally cannot change the width of the facial bones, so it has no effect on making the face smaller.

1. Overbite

Orthodontic correction can adjust dental protrusions, while skeletal protrusions require orthodontic surgery. 3. Deep overbite

In fact, many people have a deep overbite without realizing it. A mild deep overbite has little impact on the face shape and does not require dental correction. A deep overbite refers to the situation where the cutting edge of the upper front teeth covers more than 1/3 of the length of the crown of the lower front teeth.
