How to resist oxidation

Many people don’t quite understand skin antioxidants, which are substances that promote normal skin metabolism. Currently, many skin care products have antioxidant effects, which can make your skin whiter and more translucent than before, and avoid many skin diseases, including freckles, acne and blackheads. These stubborn skin diseases can be improved by this substance.

How does the skin resist oxidation?

Antioxidant is the abbreviation of antioxidant free radicals, Anti-Oxidant in English. The human body continuously produces free radicals due to its continuous contact with the outside world, including breathing (oxidation reaction), external pollution, radiation exposure and other factors. Scientific research shows that cancer, aging or other diseases are mostly related to the production of excessive free radicals. Studying antioxidants can effectively overcome the harm they bring, so antioxidants are listed as one of the main research and development directions by health care products and cosmetics companies, and it is also one of the most important functional demands of the market.

An antioxidant is any substance that can effectively inhibit the oxidation reaction of free radicals at low concentrations. Its mechanism of action can be to act directly on free radicals, or to indirectly consume substances that are prone to generating free radicals to prevent further reactions.

While the human body inevitably produces free radicals, it also naturally produces antioxidants to resist free radicals in order to offset the oxidative attack of free radicals on human cells. Research has shown that the human body's antioxidant system is a system that is comparable to the immune system, with complete and complex functions. The stronger the body's antioxidant ability, the healthier it is and the longer it lives.

The body's antioxidants are either synthesized by itself or supplied by food. Enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants play a vital role in protecting against exercise-induced peroxidative damage.

Supplementing with plant active selenium to enhance antioxidant effects is beneficial for the exercising body to reduce the production of free radicals or accelerate their clearance to combat the side effects of free radicals. It is beneficial to the health of both the general public and athletes, and may delay the occurrence of sports fatigue and accelerate physical recovery. Older people who engage in physical activities benefit better from taking antioxidants than younger people.
