Wisdom tooth cracked

Wisdom tooth cracked

Some people grow wisdom teeth in their twenties, while others grow them in their thirties. No one is sure when wisdom teeth will grow, but some wisdom teeth are not healthy after they grow out, and some even have cracks in the gums. This is a very distressing phenomenon for people. Such dental diseases are mostly related to inflammation. You can choose to go to a dental hospital for treatment. In this case, the doctor will also recommend removing the wisdom teeth.

Reasons why gums and teeth separate

In this case, the gums and teeth are separated because there is a lot of tartar and plaque in the mouth pressing on the gums, causing gingivitis, loose teeth, and gum atrophy. There is also a large amount of tartar, plaque, and gingival hyperplasia, which can also cause the gums and teeth to feel separated.

What to do if gums and teeth separate?

In the early stages of periodontitis, the gums become inflamed, bleed, and periodontal pockets form, which is what you call the separation of the gums and teeth. You need to go to the dental department for a thorough examination to rule out periodontitis.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of periodontal supporting tissues caused mainly by local factors. The age of onset is more common after 35 years old. If gingivitis is not treated in time, the inflammation can spread from the gums to the deeper layers of the periodontal membrane, alveolar bone and cementum and develop into periodontitis. Since there are often no obvious symptoms in the early stages, the disease is easily ignored. By the time symptoms appear, it is already quite serious and the teeth may no longer be saved. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen education so that patients can seek medical treatment early and receive timely treatment.

Symptoms of periodontitis

Early symptoms are not obvious, and patients often only have secondary gingival bleeding or bad breath, which are similar to the symptoms of gingivitis. During examination, the gingival margin, gingival papilla and attached gingiva may be swollen, soft, dark red or dark red in color, and easily bleed upon probing. As the inflammation spreads further, the following symptoms may appear:

1. Periodontal pocket formation

As inflammation spreads, the periodontal membrane is destroyed, the alveolar bone is gradually absorbed, the gums separate from the tooth roots, the gingival sulcus deepens, and a periodontal pocket is formed. The depth of periodontal pockets can be measured with a probe.

2. Periodontal suppuration

Ulcers and inflammatory granulation tissue are formed on the wall of the periodontal pocket, and purulent secretions are retained in the pocket, so if the gums are pressed lightly, pus can be seen. And often have bad breath.

3. Loose teeth

Due to the destruction of periodontal tissue, especially when the absorption of alveolar bone is aggravated, the strength supporting the teeth is insufficient, resulting in loose teeth and displacement. At this time, patients often feel weak bite, dull pain, and worsening gum bleeding and bad breath.

When the body's resistance is reduced and the drainage of periodontal pocket exudate is poor, periodontal abscess may form. It is a common concomitant symptom of deep periodontal pockets when periodontitis develops to the late stage. At this time, the gums are oval, red, swollen, and shiny; the teeth become more loose and painful to percussion; and the patient has severe local throbbing pain. At the same time, patients may have symptoms such as fever, general discomfort, swollen and tender submandibular lymph nodes.

prevention

Prevent and reduce systemic diseases, strengthen nutrition, improve the body's resistance, and thus enhance the disease resistance of periodontal tissues; strive to maintain oral hygiene; resolutely quit bad habits that are harmful to periodontal tissues such as smoking, drinking, and unilateral chewing.
