Tonsils and adenoids

Tonsils and adenoids

The difference between tonsils and adenoids usually lies in different causes, symptoms and locations. It can be judged through physical examination by a doctor and some clinical symptoms, and treatment should be carried out according to the doctor's instructions to avoid taking medication blindly, so as to prevent the medication from affecting the effect and time of treatment.

1. Different causes: Tonsillitis is usually caused by bacterial infection, which is more common during seasonal changes and humid seasons. Children with weak constitutions are also prone to tonsillitis. Adenoids are caused by repeated inflammation, such as acute and chronic tonsillitis and rhinitis.

2. Different symptoms: Generally speaking, if the tonsils are inflamed, symptoms such as pain in the throat may occur, as well as coughing, wheezing, and difficulty breathing. Enlarged adenoids may cause symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and otitis media.

3. Different locations: Adenoids are usually located at the top of the nasopharynx and the throat wall, while tonsils are located on both sides of the oropharynx.

Usually, the symptoms are judged to be tonsillitis and adenoids hypertrophy, which can be confirmed through physical examination and relevant tests by the doctor, and then symptomatic medication can be used under the doctor's guidance. Generally, the disease can be controlled. Be sure to follow the doctor's advice when taking the medication and avoid blindly increasing or decreasing the dosage, otherwise it will prolong the treatment time.
