Are tattoos harmful to the skin?

Nowadays people love beauty very much and always want their appearance to look more beautiful, so they will think of ways to improve it, especially tattoos are very popular. If this is the case, they may use tattoo stickers, but this kind of thing can still cause very serious damage to their own skin, so it is best not to use tattoo stickers.

First of all, the pigment composition of body painting is very complex, so human skin is not compatible with it. In addition, skin contact with pigment dyes can also cause toxic and immune allergic reactions, namely allergic contact dermatitis. The most commonly used pigment for tattoo stickers is red dye, which contains cinnabar, which is mercury. Yellow dye contains more cadmium, and black dye contains more carbon or iron oxide. These substances can cause allergic reactions on the skin and cause redness, swelling and itching. However, allergic reactions depend on a person's physical constitution. Some people are safe and sound after applying tattoo stickers, while others may develop dermatitis due to their more susceptible skin allergies.

In addition, tattoos are mostly placed on exposed parts of the human body, otherwise it would be as boring as walking in the night in gorgeous clothes. However, many people are surprised that tattoo stickers can absorb ultraviolet rays like a magnifying glass and burn the skin under the scorching sun. Most young boys and girls put makeup on their chest, arms, wrists, navel and other parts of their bodies, which are exposed to the sun and are prone to sunburn. In the sun, the brighter and more colorful the pattern is, the more ultraviolet radiation the local skin will absorb, and the more severe the burns will be.

In addition to redness, swelling, burning sensation, and stinging pain at the patch site, the surrounding skin will also darken in color and peel. Excessive scratching may cause infection, leading to scabs and scars on the skin. If this phenomenon occurs and the skin is severely red and swollen, you should quickly apply a wet compress with six or seven layers of gauze soaked in 3% boric acid water. If the condition is not too serious, you should also apply calamine lotion externally.

Some tattoo stickers were found to contain excessive amounts of plasticizers in random inspections in Taiwan. In order to stick to the skin easily, tattoo stickers usually contain plasticizers to make them sticky. However, excessive amounts of plasticizers will damage the user's skin, especially children's skin, and may even cause cancer.

Experts recommend that children should not be allowed to use such stickers as much as possible. If they are to be used, they should not be used for too long and should be thoroughly cleaned immediately after use. You can apply a small amount of alcohol or oil on the tattoo, wipe it back and forth with a soft cloth dipped in water after a few seconds, and then rinse it with clean water. At the same time, citizens should try to choose stickers produced by regular manufacturers and avoid letting children under 3 years old use them. If redness, swelling, or allergies occur after use, they should be removed immediately. In severe cases, go to a dermatologist for treatment.
