What should I check before getting pregnant?

The examination done before pregnancy is called a pre-pregnancy check-up. It should be noted that the pre-pregnancy check-up needs to be performed by both husband and wife at the same time, and they need to go to a regular hospital for the examination. Women in particular need to check more items. First of all, some gynecological diseases must be ruled out. Pregnancy is not recommended if there are gynecological diseases. In addition, attention should be paid to the precautions of the pre-pregnancy check-up. Usually, the pre-pregnancy examination items include the following.

What should I check before getting pregnant?

1. Gynecological speculum examination

Understand the condition of the vagina and cervix, rule out abnormal development of the pregnant woman's reproductive organs, and provide a channel for the baby to be born smoothly; observe whether the vaginal mucosa is congested, whether the color and amount of vaginal secretions are normal, and whether there is any odor; see whether the cervix is eroded and whether there are cervical polyps; especially when bleeding occurs in early pregnancy, observe whether the cause of bleeding is related to the vagina and cervix to provide a basis for treatment.

2. Leucorrhea examination

Find out whether there are Trichomonas or fungi in the vagina, and if necessary, conduct chlamydia, mycoplasma, and gonococcal tests. If the above microorganisms are present, it is easy to cause ascending infection, affect embryonic development and induce miscarriage.

3. Cervical smear test

Because blood volume increases and blood supply is abundant during pregnancy, if a tumor occurs in the cervix, timely treatment can improve the survival rate. Therefore, this examination is mainly to understand the morphology of cervical epithelial cells and rule out the occurrence of cervical tumors.

What tests are done for infertility?

1. For the examination of tubal infertility, laparoscopy can directly visualize the pelvic organs and can comprehensively, accurately and timely determine the nature and extent of lesions in various organs. The endoscopic permeability test can dynamically observe the patency of the fallopian tubes and at the same time play a role in clearing the fallopian tube lumen. It is one of the best means of detecting female infertility.

2. Examination of ovulatory dysfunction infertility to determine anovulation and its cause. The basal body temperature (BBT) measurement chart can help determine whether ovulation has occurred and the length of the luteal phase.

3. Examination of immune infertility

4. Examination of unexplained infertility

What diseases cause infertility?

1. Vaginal: vaginal atresia, vaginal septum, various types of vaginitis

2. Cervical aspects: cervical stenosis, polyps, tumors, adhesions, erosions, etc.

3. Uterus: Congenital absence of uterus, infantile uterus, solid uterus without uterine cavity, retroverted uterus or severe retroflexion, endometrial inflammation, and intrauterine adhesions are all causes of infertility.

4. Fallopian tube: If the fallopian tube is too long or narrow, or if the fallopian tube is occluded, has water accumulated or has adhesion due to fallopian tube inflammation, it will hinder the movement of sperm, eggs or fertilized eggs.

5. Ovarian aspects: incomplete development of ovarian follicles, inability to ovulate and form corpus luteum, premature ovarian failure, polycystic ovaries, ovarian tumors and other factors that affect follicle development or egg discharge can cause infertility.

6. Endocrine: When the hypothalamus is not fully developed or the maturation of the hypothalamic cycle center is delayed, the regulation between the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis is imperfect, which manifests as anovulatory menstruation, amenorrhea or corpus luteum dysfunction, which are possible causes of infertility.
