What are the clinical symptoms of pancreatic cancer

In recent years, pancreatic cancer has become one of the major diseases that endangers society and human health, and it has brought great pain and distress to humans. In order to reduce the incidence of pancreatic cancer, we humans should master the clinical symptoms of pancreatic cancer:

Pancreatic cancer is usually diagnosed only in its late stages. Common clinical features include weight loss, dizziness, abdominal pain, and jaundice. Weight loss is a nonspecific symptom that is usually gradual and begins several months before pancreatic cancer is confirmed. 65% to 80% of patients have abdominal pain, which is often worse at night. The pain is worse when lying down or sitting. The pain is often vague and difficult to explain, which often delays the diagnosis.

Jaundice is the third most common symptom and is a late presentation in many patients. Jaundice is usually progressive but may fluctuate naturally. Jaundice may be the only clinical manifestation in patients with small pancreatic cancers adjacent to the common bile duct. Therefore, this unexplained jaundice should be carefully evaluated. These tumors are often easier to resect. Jaundice is often accompanied by annoying itching of the arms, legs, and abdomen, especially at night. Pruritus is related to bile salt retention in the skin. The level of bile salts in the skin is more closely related to the severity of itching than the level of serum bilirubin. There is also a theory that bile salts promote the release of proteases in peripheral cells, which can cause itching, but not all patients complain of itching. Occasionally, itching may be seen before clinical jaundice occurs. Although painless jaundice is still mistakenly declared to be a symptom unique to patients with pancreatic cancer, in fact, patients with this presentation are the exception.

Nonspecific signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer include anorexia, ascending cholangitis, and changes in bowel habits (constipation, diarrhea, malabsorption, bloating, or flatulence). Diabetes may accompany the attack. Symptoms of impaired gastric emptying may occur due to direct damage to the stomach, pylorus, or duodenum, or due to gastric dysfunction. Metastatic thrombophlebitis (Trousseau sign), which is usually associated with lung cancer, may also be an early sign of pancreatic cancer. Depression, hypochondria, and hysteria may occur in middle-aged people, which are generally believed to be caused by pancreatic cancer. Psychiatric symptoms, mainly depressive symptoms, are occasionally seen in patients with pancreatic cancer.

The above are the clinical symptoms of pancreatic cancer.
