How to care after rectal cancer surgery

With the progress of the times, people's living standards are getting higher and higher. While you are enjoying life with your family, have you ever thought about paying attention to some cancers? Although modern technology is advanced, due to the hidden nature of rectal cancer, the symptoms of early cancer patients are extremely unclear. Clinically, most patients with rectal cancer have obvious symptoms in the middle and late stages. Here, we remind our friends that even if you are not sick, you should pay attention to it. Even if you don't consider yourself, you should consider your family. The health of your family is your own health.

Postoperative care measures for rectal cancer:

1. Sitz bath after surgery. For those with open perineal incision, after the gauze is removed, you can take a sitz bath in 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution twice a day to prevent infection.

2. After radical surgery for rectal cancer, a urinary catheter needs to be left in place for a longer period of time, and the urine volume and properties should be closely monitored to facilitate early detection of urinary tract infection and early treatment.

3. Strengthen the care of the perineum and use 0.2% furazolidone cotton balls to scrub the perineum twice a day.

4. Female patients should strengthen the cleaning of the perineum during menstruation to prevent infection of the incision.

5. After the catheter is removed 7-10 days after surgery, you should drink plenty of water to maintain sufficient urine volume to flush the urinary tract.

6. Strengthen the care of the perineal incision. When the perineal incision is healing in the first stage, the outer dressing should be kept clean and dry.

7. After the catheter is removed from female patients, a female urinal should be used to collect urine to prevent urine from contaminating the incision.

8. After surgery, the patient should take a semi-recumbent or sitting position to facilitate drainage. The drainage tube should be maintained for 7-10 days and can be removed in batches by the doctor after the amount of drainage is reduced; it is strictly forbidden for the patient or family members to remove it.

The above is an introduction to "postoperative care measures for rectal cancer". When the above symptoms appear, patients should go to a regular hospital for treatment. Early detection and early treatment can effectively cure rectal cancer. People who are related to the pathogenic factors of rectal cancer are advised to take preventive measures for rectal cancer.
