Analyzing the best diagnostic method for bone tumors

Bone tumors can be divided into benign and malignant. In order to further clarify the diagnosis, the pathological findings under the microscope must be combined with the clinical situation and X-ray manifestations for a comprehensive analysis. All three are indispensable. This is the best diagnostic method for bone tumors.

Since malignant bone tumors progress slowly, they are often difficult to attract patients' attention when they develop. Many patients with malignant bone tumors seek medical treatment late, losing the opportunity for early treatment and having a poor prognosis. For malignant bone tumors, like other tumors, early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment (i.e., "three earlys") are the key to successful treatment. Early detection of malignant bone tumors requires patients to understand the typical symptoms of bone tumors so as to find early clues and seek medical treatment in time.

Bone and joint pain, lumps, and movement disorders are the main symptoms of bone tumors, especially malignant bone tumors. However, many bone tumors do not have typical clinical symptoms in the early stages, so early detection is difficult. The following introduces the diagnosis methods of bone tumors:

1. The occurrence of malignant bone tumors is related to the vigorous growth of bones. Most of them occur between the ages of 10 and 30, with the peak period of onset between the ages of 10 and 20. Adolescent patients feel that the pain and swelling (or mass) of their limbs are consistent in location, and are fixed and persistent, especially at night, and gradually worsen day by day, which should arouse high vigilance. When the pain and swelling of the limbs are not caused by trauma, inflammation, or cold, you must not take it lightly and must go for further examination immediately.

2. When adolescents present with acute osteomyelitis symptoms such as fever, limb pain, swelling, and leukocytosis, the possibility of Ewing's sarcoma and osteosarcoma should be ruled out.

3. If the original benign mass on the bone suddenly increases in size and is accompanied by pain, it indicates that it may have a tendency to become malignant. Multiple enchondromas, multiple osteochondromas and long tubular single osteochondromas are all prone to becoming malignant chondrosarcomas. If you have the above lesions, you should have regular checkups to prevent malignant changes.

4. When elderly people experience unexplained limb pain, back pain, and the pain tends to progressively worsen, they should be alert to the possibility of metastatic bone tumors.

5. Whenever swelling, local lumps, pain, and tenderness occur in the soft tissues of the limbs, and there is tenderness in the tendons, fascia, and adjacent joints, the possibility of synovial sarcoma should be considered first. Do not easily explain it away with benign lesions such as arthritis, cysts, and fibroma.

6. Patients with no obvious abnormalities in X-ray examinations and other findings but whose disease progression is inconsistent with trauma or benign lesions should pay attention to strengthening local observation, regular follow-up examinations, or consult a doctor with bone tumor expertise for further examination.

For the above situations and those who are highly suspected of having malignant bone tumors, the diagnosis methods of bone tumors also include X-ray examinations, radioisotope bone scans, CT examinations, MRI examinations, puncture or incisional pathological biopsy to clarify the diagnosis.
