Thyroid tumor grading

Thyroid tumor grading

If there is a cyst problem in the thyroid gland, it can be effectively observed through ultrasound testing. The thyroid gland is an important endocrine organ in the human body. If there is a problem with it, it will cause a person's endocrine system to be out of balance. The condition of thyroid cysts in each patient is different, so medical students have also made different classifications of thyroid tumors. The following article will provide you with a basic understanding of the classification of thyroid tumors.

Principles of thyroid nodule grading:

1. Grade 1: Grade 1 nodules are generally round or oval in shape, and no echo will appear during examination. There is generally no sign of blood flow inside. This is usually caused by bleeding in a thyroid cyst or a thyroid tumor.

2. Level 2: Level 2 is a mixed echoic structure with a relatively regular shape and a very solid texture. There will be signs of blood flow inside the cyst, which usually appears in follicular and adenomatous nodules.

3. Level 3: Thyroid nodules at this level also have regular shapes and are very uniform and free of stones. It is also accompanied by echoes, and slight calcification can be seen in the capsule or nodule, and the internal blood flow is very abundant. These conditions usually occur in follicular, adenomatous, and differentiated cancers.

IV. Grade 4: Irregularly shaped solid echogenic nodules, sometimes with microcalcifications visible in the capsule or nodules, and abundant blood flow inside. More common in differentiated carcinoma.

5. Grade 5: Thyroid nodules at this level are irregular in shape, solid and echogenic nodules with extraglandular infiltration. You can see some calcification inside the capsule, and the blood flow inside is very abundant. This situation usually indicates cancer, and many of its symptoms will appear under ultrasound. Such as lack of halo sign, irregular edges, high internal blood flow, etc. Of course, there are far more symptoms than these.

From the above we can understand that thyroid nodules can be divided into five grades. Moreover, the symptoms and disease types at each level are different. You must be cautious during treatment and take reasonable measures to ensure recovery.
