Classification of cancerous sites of pancreatic cancer

Cancer has various causes and symptoms. Even the same cancer can be divided into many different types based on different factors. The classification of pancreatic cancer can be determined by the location of the cancer. Let's learn how pancreatic cancer is classified based on the different locations of the cancer.

According to the location of pancreatic cancer, pancreatic cancer is classified into pancreatic head cancer, pancreatic body cancer, pancreatic tail cancer and whole pancreatic cancer. The head of pancreatic cancer includes the papilla and the lower end of the bile duct, so there are differences in the names of pancreatic head cancer, papillary cancer, ampullary cancer and lower end of the bile duct cancer.

Pancreatic body and tail cancer: The boundary between the pancreatic body and tail cannot be clearly demarcated, so they are collectively referred to as pancreatic body and tail cancer. Only 30% of pancreatic cancers occur in the pancreatic body and tail. Pancreatic body and tail cancer can destroy pancreatic islet tissue and cause diabetes, and can be accompanied by peripheral venous thrombosis, causing splenomegaly and portal hypertension, which may be caused by the tumor secreting certain substances that promote blood coagulation. Pancreatic body and tail cancer metastasize earlier than pancreatic head cancer, and are more common and widespread, and can metastasize to local lymph nodes, liver, peritoneum and lungs.

Pancreatic cancer, also known as extensive pancreatic cancer, can develop from pancreatic head, pancreatic body, and pancreatic tail cancer, or it can be diffuse in the early stages of the disease. It accounts for about 10% of pancreatic cancers.

I hope that by understanding the differences in the locations of cancer, I can help readers correctly classify pancreatic cancer. Different types of pancreatic cancer have different lesions and spreads. I believe that by classifying pancreatic cancer, I can help patients receive more targeted treatment.
