Will nephritis cause hair loss?

In autumn, many people will find that their hair is falling out severely. This is usually due to seasonal reasons. However, if you suffer from frequent hair loss, in addition to excessive stress, it may also be due to physical reasons. Patients with nephritis will report that they are experiencing hair loss. Nephritis itself does not cause hair loss, but it can cause inflammation of the hair blood vessels, leading to hair loss. This article introduces the specific situation, let’s take a look.

1. Will patients with chronic nephritis lose their hair?

[1] Generally speaking, hair loss is a normal metabolic phenomenon and belongs to physiological hair loss. However, there is also pathological hair loss. If more than 100 hairs fall out in one wash, it is pathological hair loss. There are many reasons for this kind of hair loss, such as endocrine disorders. Will nephritis cause hair loss? In fact, for patients with nephritis, the reason for hair loss is that many kidney patients have inflamed blood vessels in their scalp, which causes obstruction in the blood's nutrient supply to the hair follicles.

[II] Regarding the extension of whether nephritis will cause hair loss, there are many solutions to hair loss. First of all, you should pay attention to the health and care of your hair. Eat a light diet and avoid high-calorie or irritating foods (such as fried foods, peppers, cigarettes, alcohol, coffee, and beef containing abnormal proteins, etc.). Maintain a regular lifestyle, get enough sleep, and reduce psychological stress. Apply topical medication to remove oil, reduce dandruff, reduce inflammation and relieve itching, and wash your hair with a shampoo that has anti-dandruff ingredients.

[3] If the condition is related to physical genetics and male hormone levels, you should consult a doctor to see if anti-androgen drugs are suitable for treatment. Traditional oral medications include vitamin B6 and cystine. In addition, patients with hair loss should keep their body and mind comfortable, learn to take care of their hair scientifically, choose appropriate conditioners and hair lotions, blow and comb their hair in the correct way, insist on self-massage, adjust their dietary structure, and supplement with appropriate dietary therapy.

2. What are the symptoms of chronic nephritis patients?

First, body swelling. The main areas of occurrence are the face, eyelids, and limbs. This is the most obvious early symptom of nephritis, and body edema will continue to occur throughout the treatment process of kidney disease. The edema of different patients may be mild or severe. The former only shows obvious edema in the cheeks and eyes in the morning, and also in the ankles during lunch break. The latter is more serious and may cause swelling all over the body. When this happens, do not delay and go to the hospital immediately for targeted diagnosis to confirm the condition as soon as possible.

Second, symptoms of hypertension. When the kidneys are diseased and cannot excrete waste products, they will produce substances that increase blood pressure. Clinically, 90% of kidney disease patients will have high blood pressure. High blood pressure will have a great impact on the kidneys. The higher the blood pressure, the greater the harm to kidney disease. Generally, the blood pressure is moderately increased, about 180-150120-90 mmHg. This requires our nephritis patients to be special. Under normal circumstances, there is no direct causal relationship between nephritis and hypertension, and the two diseases do not affect each other. However, once the nephritis patient's condition worsens into renal failure or uremia, hypertension will follow and become uncontrollable.

Third, urine volume is significantly reduced. This point should also be taken particularly seriously! Under normal circumstances, acute nephritis will cause a significant decrease in urine volume and the urine will be darker and deeper in color (may be accompanied by edema), and a small number of patients will experience anuria! In more serious cases, some nephritis patients will experience hematuria (blood in the urine, and the urine is dark tea color). This serious symptom will last for several days or even weeks.

Fourth, foam appears in the urine. This is a problem that many patients with nephritis tend to overlook and do not pay special attention to. The increase in foam in urine indicates that the urine protein has increased and the body is losing a lot of protein. The reason for protein loss is that the kidney function is damaged and cannot wash hands well. When there is an obstruction between the kidney and the urethra, a large amount of protein will leak out and become proteinuria.

Fifth, there is a history of streptococcal infection. Follow-up urine tests 7-20 weeks after recovery from diseases such as influenza, acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, gingival abscess, scarlet fever, chickenpox, measles, skin abscesses, etc. can help detect signs of nephritis early. This point may be overlooked to a large extent, which requires us to pay more attention to it.
