Understand the reality of whether lung cancer is contagious

As a relative or friend of a patient, no matter what the disease is, everyone will worry about whether it is contagious. When it comes to lung cancer, whether lung cancer is contagious has also become a topic of concern. So is lung cancer not contagious ?

First of all, everyone thinks that "lung disease" is contagious, and this "lung disease" is pulmonary tuberculosis. Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis are called open pulmonary tuberculosis when the sputum is positive for bacteria, which is contagious. Therefore, patients with cough, sputum, and blood in the sputum should pay attention to disease prevention. Pulmonary tuberculosis is a disease transmitted through the respiratory tract, while lung cancer is different from pulmonary tuberculosis. Lung cancer is a malignant tumor caused by abnormal proliferation of local cells under the action of multiple different carcinogenic factors, and the loss of normal cell morphology and dynamics. Most people think that pulmonary tuberculosis is lung cancer, but in fact they are different. Although they are both lung problems, lung cancer is not contagious.

Lung cancer is not contagious. Cancer cells in the patient's body are a group of abnormal cells that have lost control and grow in an invasive manner. They not only destroy adjacent normal tissues and organs, but can also spread to all parts of the body through the lymphatic system and blood circulation, absorbing a large amount of nutrients, growing and proliferating rapidly, causing the patient's systemic failure and even death. Although cancer cells can spread or metastasize everywhere in the patient's body, they will not be transmitted from one person to another like bacteria and viruses. To oneself, other people's cancer cells are a kind of foreign body, and the body can destroy other people's cancer cells through its powerful immune rejection ability. Therefore, other people's cancer cells cannot survive in one's own body.

Through the above description, perhaps everyone has a preliminary understanding of whether lung cancer is contagious, so simply put, lung cancer is not contagious, and everyone can rest assured. However, we still hope that when you come into contact with lung cancer patients, you will maintain personal hygiene for the health of yourself and your family.
