What factors are conducive to radiotherapy for cervical cancer

In recent years, the incidence of cervical cancer has increased year by year, and the affected population is getting younger and younger, which seriously affects women's health. With the gradual improvement of its treatment level, more and more methods have begun to attract people's attention.

Radiotherapy is currently one of the main methods for treating cervical cancer. It has a wide range of indications. Cervical cancer patients can receive radiotherapy as long as they have no bone marrow suppression and their white blood cell count is >3000/mm3 and their platelet count is >70000/mm3.

Studies have shown that simple radical surgery and radical radiotherapy can achieve comparable results for early-stage cervical cancer (I-IIA). Even if radical treatment is not available in the late stage, it can alleviate pain caused by local tumor bleeding and distant metastasis and prolong survival.

At present, it is believed that the favorable factors for radiotherapy of cervical cancer are mainly the following:

① Radiotherapy has a certain sensitivity to both squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma, and can have a good therapeutic effect

② For a long time, the development of cervical cancer is confined to the pelvic cavity, with a small radiation range.

③ When the dose for radical treatment of cervical cancer is reached, the dose to the rectum and bladder is basically within the tolerance dose, and the side effects are relatively small

④ Intracavitary radiotherapy has natural cavities, namely the vagina and uterine cavity.

For patients with comorbidities, such as patients in the acute stage of hepatitis, the comorbidities should be treated first, and then radiotherapy should be performed; if the patient has chronic diseases such as diabetes, tuberculosis, hypertension, etc., they can be treated simultaneously.
