Two groups of people at high risk of liver cancer

The incidence of liver cancer is second only to gastric cancer and esophageal cancer. The cause of the disease is not yet fully understood. Current studies have shown that hepatitis B patients and long-term smokers and alcoholics are prone to liver cancer.

1. Hepatitis B patients

Hepatitis B is one of the main factors that induce liver cancer. Areas where hepatitis B is prevalent are often also high-incidence areas of liver cancer. People who have had hepatitis B are 10.7 times more likely to develop liver cancer than those who have not had hepatitis B. The way in which hepatitis B virus induces liver cancer is that hepatitis B virus first causes hepatitis, which in turn causes cirrhosis, causing atypical proliferation of liver cells, and then developing into liver cancer; or chronic hepatitis can directly lead to the occurrence of liver cancer without going through the stage of cirrhosis.

2. Long-term smokers and drinkers

Another high-risk group is people who love to smoke and drink, most of whom are men. Long-term smoking and drinking habits lead to cirrhosis. If you add a lot of smoking, it will accelerate and aggravate cirrhosis and promote the occurrence of liver cancer. Strictly speaking, drinking is not the direct cause of the disease, but drinking can promote the carcinogenic effect of carcinogens and inhibit the function of the immune system. In addition, alcohol can stimulate the secretion of the pituitary gland, accelerate the rate of cell division, and increase the rate of cell cancer.
