What are the typical clinical signs of lung cancer patients

Typical physical signs of lung cancer patients include local wheezing, hoarseness, dysphagia, shoulder and arm pain, superior vena cava syndrome, pleural metastasis, lung cancer metastasis, pericardial invasion, and extrapulmonary signs.

1. Localized wheezing: Wheezing occurs during the inhalation phase and does not disappear after coughing.

2. Hoarseness: It occurs when lymph node metastasis compresses or invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve.

3. Difficulty in swallowing: caused by enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes compressing the esophagus.

4. Shoulder and arm pain: When apex cancer compresses or invades the brachial plexus, radiating burning pain will occur in the lateral shoulder and upper limbs.

5. Superior vena cava syndrome: Due to compression or invasion of the superior vena cava by the tumor, venous return is obstructed, leading to edema of the head, face, neck, and upper limbs, varicose veins and edema in the upper chest, accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

6. Pleural metastasis: symptoms such as chest pain and cancerous pleural effusion occur.

7. Lung cancer metastasis: Common sites are bones, liver, brain, kidneys, adrenal glands, subcutaneous tissue, etc. Clinically, there are corresponding symptoms and signs depending on the different sites of metastasis.

8. Pericardium invasion: pericardial effusion, shortness of breath, arrhythmia, heart failure, etc. may occur.

9. Extrapulmonary signs: common symptoms include pain or hypertrophy of joints in the limbs, clubbing of fingers, multiple neuritis, hypercalcemia, myasthenia gravis, and hyperplasia of breast in men.
