Advantages of flexible cystoscopy in the diagnosis of bladder cancer

Cystoscopy is a commonly used examination method for diagnosing bladder cancer. It can be divided into two types: rigid cystoscopy and flexible cystoscopy. Compared with rigid cystoscopy, flexible cystoscopy is more easily accepted by patients. It has the advantages of simple operation, wide examination area, less damage, clear field of view, high image resolution, simultaneous remote consultation, and low requirements for body position.

(1) Simple operation: The tip of the soft bladder endoscope can be bent upward and downward at a large angle, avoiding the need to change the endoscope of different angles when observing the urethra and bladder with a hard endoscope. It is easy to operate.

(2) Wide examination area: The flexible cystoscope can scan the bladder diverticulum, bladder walls, bladder neck, ileal bladder and internal urethral opening.

(3) Minimal damage: The soft bladder endoscope is soft and has a thin tube diameter (<16Fr). Gentle insertion will cause little damage to the urethra and bladder.

(4) Clear field of vision: The flexible cystoscope can minimize the impact of traumatic hematuria on observation. It is also equipped with a suction device to remove floating objects in the bladder that hinder observation, thereby ensuring a clear field of vision.

(5) High image resolution: Electronic digital imaging of the cystoscope has extremely high image resolution. The image can be magnified hundreds of times without distortion, and can detect earlier and smaller lesions.

(6) Synchronous remote consultation: The flexible cystoscope can transmit digital images to a computer through an image acquisition system and realize synchronous remote consultation online.

(7) Low requirements for body position: The flexible cystoscope has low requirements for body position. It can be examined in the lithotomy position, supine position, and lateral position. Even patients with lower limb deformities, severe arthritis, and hemiplegia can be examined.
