The local symptoms vary depending on the location of brain tumor invasion

Brain tumors can occur in the cerebellum, cerebrum, third ventricle, thalamus, and pons, and can also invade the optic nerve and auditory nerve. In addition to the manifestations of increased intracranial pressure such as headache, vomiting, papilledema, changes in visual field, epilepsy, diplopia, cranial enlargement (in childhood), and changes in vital signs, patients will also show different local symptoms depending on the location of the tumor growth.

1. Cerebellar tumor: Tumors in the cerebellum often manifest as ataxia of the affected limbs, which may include inaccurate limb movements, clumsy movements, unstable holding, low muscle tone and tendon reflexes, etc.

2. Brain tumor: The main symptom of patients with brain tumor is epilepsy.

3. Third ventricle tumor: Patients with third ventricle tumors often experience severe paroxysmal headaches, and may experience sudden loss of consciousness, mental disorders, memory loss, etc.

4. Thalamic tumor: When the tumor is located in the thalamus, contralateral limb paralysis, sensory impairment and spontaneous pain in one half of the body often occur, and may be accompanied by mental symptoms, visual impairment and hearing impairment.

5. Pontine tumors: Pontine tumors often present with limited eye abduction and involvement of the facial nerve and trigeminal nerve.

6. Optic nerve tumor: When the tumor invades the optic nerve, it often manifests as visual impairment and abnormal eye position.

7. Auditory nerve tumor: When the tumor damages the auditory nerve, unilateral tinnitus may occur. In severe cases, deafness may even occur, which is often noticed when making phone calls.
