Middle-aged and elderly people are at high risk of laryngeal cancer

Laryngeal cancer mainly refers to tumors that originate in the larynx, with squamous cell carcinoma (90%) being the most common. Middle-aged and elderly people are at high risk of laryngeal cancer. Early detection and diagnosis and treatment are very important for reducing the harm of laryngeal cancer, improving the patient's survival rate after surgery, preserving the pronunciation function of the larynx as much as possible, and reducing postoperative complications.

Laryngeal cancer is more likely to occur in middle-aged and elderly people, especially those who smoke for a long time, drink a lot of alcohol, eat hot food, often eat chili peppers, and like to eat barbecue. If you suddenly find that your voice has changed, you should be alert, because hoarseness is the earliest symptom of laryngeal cancer, followed by difficulty in pronunciation and finally loss of voice. Laryngeal cancer often metastasizes to the cervical lymph nodes in the early stage. Some patients first feel a lump in the neck and then find laryngeal cancer after examination. Early laryngeal cancer can be diagnosed through laryngoscope, fiber bronchoscope, secretion smear or biopsy of pathological sections.

If middle-aged and elderly people find hoarseness or a lump in the neck, they should get early diagnosis and early treatment. When diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, you should have the confidence to defeat the disease; gastrointestinal adverse reactions may occur after surgery or after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, so you should take small meals and frequent meals to supplement nutrition, and avoid eating hard, dry, cold, or overheated food; after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the body's immunity decreases, so you should prevent infection and colds. In addition to increasing nutrition, you can also use some Chinese and Western medicines that can improve immunity, and pay attention to oral hygiene and brush your teeth and gargle frequently.
