my country discovers new indicator for diagnosing prostate cancer

The Urology Department of Xijing Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University in my country completed a study on prostate cancer. The results showed that the detection of retinoblastoma susceptibility gene (Rb) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) can serve as valuable indicators for clinicians to determine the occurrence and progression of prostate cancer, and provide meaningful help in formulating reasonable treatment plans.

Since the 1970s, the incidence of prostate cancer in my country has increased significantly, and the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer has received increasing attention in clinical practice. The Department of Urology, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, used the immunohistochemical SABC method to detect Rb and PCNA in 36 prostate cancer tissues, and compared and analyzed the expression of the two in different pathological grades and clinical stages. The results showed that 17 of the 36 prostate cancer tissues were positive for Rb expression, with a positive rate of 47.2%; the positive expression of Rb and PCNA in patients with different pathological grades and clinical stages of prostate cancer was significantly different; at the same time, it was found that Rb expression was negatively correlated with PCNA expression, that is, PCNA expression was weak in Rb-positive tissues and strong in Rb-negative tissues, and there was a significant difference between the two.

Based on the test results, the researchers believe that the retinoblastoma susceptibility gene is involved in the occurrence and development of prostate cancer, and abnormalities in the Rb and PCNA regulatory pathways may be involved in the pathogenesis. Detection of the retinoblastoma susceptibility gene and proliferating cell nuclear antigen can help determine the malignancy and prognosis of prostate cancer.
