Recent studies have also found that tobacco smoke contains free radicals that can damage genes, cell membranes, reduce immunity, and promote tissue cancer. These substances can be dissolved in saliva and enter the stomach when swallowed, and can cause cancer over a long period of time due to increased smoking volume and smoking time. The results of a paired case-control study in my country found that the incidence of gastric cancer shows an upward trend as the number of years of smoking increases and the amount of cigarettes smoked per day increases. (1) Drinking clean water: The organic chlorides produced by organic matter in tap water that has been disinfected with chlorination are mutagenic, but those disinfected with ozone are not mutagenic. Chlorides are mutagenic and increase the risk of gastric cancer by 30%-60%. It is estimated that 11% of gastric malignancies are closely related to smoking worldwide. Smoking patients are often infected with Helicobacter pylori, and the two together promote the occurrence of atrophic gastritis. In addition, smoking while eating can swallow harmful substances in tobacco with food and contact the gastric mucosa. (2) Change eating habits: Eat a low-salt diet. Eating too much salty food is one of the high-risk factors for gastric cancer. Try to eat less canned food, salted and smoked food, such as pickles, sauerkraut, pickled fish, etc., smoked food such as bacon and barbecued meat skewers, etc. Smoked food can produce a large number of carcinogens, while steaming animal food will not produce mutagens. Eat less fat and animal oil, which is also helpful in preventing gastric cancer; eat more vegetables, fruits and potato foods. Vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamin C, which can block the formation of nitrosamines in the stomach and has anti-cancer effects. (3) Auxiliary effects of folic acid: Folic acid can prevent stomach cancer, but it must be taken for a long time to be effective. (4) Pay attention to pernicious anemia and ulcers: If you have pernicious anemia, non-healing gastric ulcers, or persistent stomach discomfort or weight loss, you should see a doctor promptly. (5) Eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection: After infection with Helicobacter pylori, patients should receive Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment as soon as possible. According to a recent animal experiment report in the United States, eradication treatment can significantly reduce the degree of atypical hyperplasia of the gastric mucosa and prevent the occurrence of gastric cancer to the greatest extent. (6) Pay attention to food preservation and cooking: It is important to improve food preservation methods, cook hygienically, balance the diet and stay away from moldy food. In addition to keeping a tight control on your mouth, preventing stomach cancer also requires realizing that a bad mentality can also cause cancer. Therefore, improving people's psychological quality and ability to adapt to the environment, including paying attention to mental health, maintaining an optimistic mood, cultivating good psychological quality, and enhancing self-regulation ability, are all good measures to reduce the risk of stomach cancer. |
