Causes of pancreatic cancer

The cause of pancreatic cancer is still unknown:

1. Genetic factors The genetic factors of pancreatic cancer have not been clearly confirmed, but there are reports of family cases. Recent studies have shown that people with close relatives who have malignant pancreatic tumors have a higher risk of developing the disease.

2. Environmental lifestyle factors such as drinking, pancreatitis, diabetes, etc. are related to the incidence of pancreatic cancer.

(1) Smoking: Studies have shown that the risk of smokers is proportional to the degree of their smoking. For those who have quit smoking for 10 to 15 years, the risk is similar to that of lifelong non-smokers. There is no difference in the risk of smoking cigars, cigarettes, pipes and chewing tobacco.

(2) Diet: Animal experiments have shown that a high-fat diet is associated with the development of pancreatic cancer. Other factors include meat and high-calorie diets, especially high-sugar, dairy products, and marine foods. People who eat a diet high in fiber, fruits, and fresh vegetables are less likely to develop pancreatic cancer. Although drinking caffeinated alcoholic beverages is considered a growing risk factor, there are many studies that do not support this view.
