Causes of colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer is a malignant lesion of the colon mucosal epithelium caused by a variety of carcinogenic factors such as environmental or genetic factors. It has a poor prognosis and a high mortality rate. It is one of the common malignant tumors in my country. Like other malignant tumors, the cause of colorectal cancer is not yet clear, and it may be related to the following factors.

(1) Environmental factors. Among various environmental factors, dietary factors are the most important. The incidence of colorectal cancer is positively correlated with the high fat consumption in the food. In addition, it may also be related to the lack of trace elements and changes in lifestyle habits.

(2) Genetic factors. There are reports of "familial clustering of colorectal cancer" both at home and abroad. The death rate of patients with family clustering of colorectal cancer is significantly higher than that of the general population.

(3) Colon adenoma The incidence of colon adenoma is quite similar to that of colon cancer. According to statistics, the incidence of colon cancer in patients with one adenoma is 5 times higher than that in patients without adenoma, and the incidence of colon cancer in patients with multiple adenomas is 1 times higher than that in patients with a single adenoma.

(4) Chronic colon inflammation. The prevalence of intestinal cancer is positively correlated with the prevalence of schistosomiasis. It is generally believed that due to schistosomiasis, inflammatory changes in the intestines may lead to cancer in some cases. Other chronic inflammations of the intestines may also lead to cancer, such as ulcerative colitis, which has a 3%-5% chance of cancer.
