What causes stomach cancer to hiccup?

Gastric cancer is also called gastric adenocarcinoma. It is a malignant tumor originating from the epithelium and is the most common gastric malignant tumor. However, there are more than one type of gastric malignant tumor. Other gastric malignant tumors include gastric sarcoma, gastric lymphoma, and stromal tumor. So why do people with gastric cancer hiccup? The following is an introduction to this question.

Hiccups are normal, but persistent hiccups are not normal. Indigestion caused by gastric cancer will cause persistent hiccups. Hiccups are divided into two types in nature, namely transient hiccups and intractable hiccups. Transient hiccups are often caused by eating too fast, being too full, mental stimulation, laughing, coughing, or changing body position, and the sudden change in pressure on the intercostal muscles or diaphragm. Intractable hiccups are caused by direct invasion of the nerves by tumors, and it is likely that the hiccups will continue for more than 48 hours.
There are many reasons for persistent hiccups, and gastric cancer is one of them. This is because gastric cancer can cause indigestion and upper abdominal distension; or the tumor can cause stomach expansion, stimulating the vagus nerve and causing hiccups; another reason is that the tumor directly invades the vagus nerve or diaphragm and causes hiccups.
We all have hiccups, but if you have persistent hiccups, you must pay attention to your body and go to the hospital for relevant examinations in time so that gastric cancer can be detected as early as possible. In addition, common symptoms of gastric cancer include upper abdominal discomfort, bloating, stomach pain and black stools. At present, the treatment of gastric cancer is mainly surgery. For those who cannot resect, comprehensive treatments such as tumor biotherapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be considered.
