What are the diagnostic criteria for pancreatic cancer

The diagnostic methods for pancreatic cancer include symptom observation, laboratory tests, clinical diagnosis, etc. The initial diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is generally when the patient discovers discomfort himself, and experts conduct in-depth diagnosis based on the symptoms of the patient. The following specifically describes the diagnostic criteria for pancreatic cancer.

Symptoms and signs of pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer usually occurs in people over 40 years old. Patients have anorexia, indigestion, obvious weight loss, painless progressive jaundice or persistent paroxysmal upper abdominal pain. The pain is relieved when the patient bends forward and flexes his lower limbs. There is a percussion lump in the upper abdomen. At this time, the patient should consider the possibility of pancreatic cancer when seeking medical treatment, and further clinical diagnosis is needed.

Laboratory tests for pancreatic cancer

Patients with pancreatic head cancer may present with various laboratory manifestations of obstructive jaundice, bleeding due to intestinal ulcers and liver damage, positive stool occult blood, elevated serum amylase in the early stage of pancreatic duct obstruction, and decreased insulin secretion and hyperglycemia in the later stage after the pancreatic islets are destroyed by cancer cells. Laboratory tests include serum carcinoembryonic antigen detection and monosialoganglioside.

Other commonly used examination methods include X-ray examination, retrograde pancreaticobiliary duct modeling, selective abdominal artery angiography, B-ultrasound examination, CT/MRI examination, and percutaneous liver puncture angiography; these commonly used examination methods have good diagnostic and therapeutic significance for pancreatic head cancer, pancreatic body cancer, and pancreatic tail cancer.

After looking at these commonly used examination methods, pancreatic cancer can be easily misdiagnosed with other common pancreatic diseases in clinical practice. Therefore, if you feel unwell, go to the hospital for examination in time, especially for people in the high-risk group for pancreatic cancer. Do not delay the disease and treatment, which will cause greater harm to your body.
