What are the dangers of advanced colorectal cancer

Once we find cancer or a tumor in the disease, we must be alert. If these diseases are not treated properly or become serious in the later stages, they will take our lives. Therefore, once we suffer from such diseases, we must seek treatment in time. So what are the dangers of late-stage colorectal cancer? Regarding this issue, let's take a closer look at it below.

Changes in bowel habits

Changes in bowel habits may be the earliest symptom of colorectal cancer. Most patients experience increased frequency of bowel movements, loose stools, and blood and mucus in the stools. In left-sided colon cancer, solid stools rubbing against the cancerous lesions can easily cause blood in the stools. Sometimes loose stools and constipation occur alternately.

stomach ache

Abdominal pain is also one of the early symptoms. The pain is mostly in the middle and lower abdomen. The severity varies. It is mostly dull pain or distending pain. When the cancerous tumor has intestinal perforation and is complicated by diffuse peritonitis, there are peritoneal irritation signs.

Abdominal mass

Abdominal mass is a common symptom of right colon cancer. Intestinal obstruction is more common in left colon cancer because the left colon cavity is narrow. In rectal cancer, there is often blood in the stool and changes in bowel habits. Other systemic symptoms include anemia, weight loss, fatigue, edema, low protein, etc. Patients with tumor necrosis and secondary infection often have fever. Enlarged lymph nodes compress the iliac vein and block the return flow, which can cause edema of the lower limbs, scrotum or labia.

A relatively rare complication of colorectal cancer is acute massive bleeding, which is clinically manifested as a large amount of bright red or dark red bloody stools once or repeatedly in a short period of time. In this case, the amount of bleeding is generally more than 1000ml, and a series of symptoms such as increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, decreased urine volume and even shock will appear, which are often life-threatening.

You already know the harm of colorectal cancer. Now that we understand these harms, in order to avoid the harm of this disease to us, we must do a good job in preventing this disease, which is of great help to us. I hope everyone can live a healthy life. Finally, thank you for reading.
