What is the cure rate of early gallbladder cancer

Gallbladder cancer can cause serious harm to the patient's body. Many patients want to know whether they can be cured before receiving treatment. So what is the cure rate of gallbladder cancer? What are the treatment measures? What is the cure rate of gallbladder cancer? In recent years, gallbladder cancer has gradually received attention from experts and patients. Clinical data show that the prognosis of gallbladder cancer is poor, and the overall 5-year survival rate is less than 5%. This is mainly related to the high malignancy of the tumor, early metastasis and spread, and the low early diagnosis rate and surgical resection rate.

As mentioned above, the effect of tumor treatment is closely related to the stage of gallbladder cancer. Patients with stage I and II gallbladder cancer who are accidentally discovered after cholecystectomy for benign gallbladder disease can often survive for a long time, and the 5-year survival rate is reported to be around 80%. On the contrary, the prognosis of cases above stage III is very poor. If the tumor has invaded the entire layer of the gallbladder, almost all patients will die within 2.5 years after surgery.

Gallbladder cancer has spread to the bile duct and has multiple liver metastases. Radical surgery is no longer possible. Such patients can undergo some palliative surgeries to relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life. If there is obstructive jaundice, bile duct drainage is required to relieve jaundice and skin itching; if pyloric obstruction occurs, gastrojejunostomy is performed.

After cholecystectomy for gallstones or acute cholecystitis, gallbladder cancer was unexpectedly found in the pathological section, and the lesion was limited to the serosal layer below the gallbladder wall. Most scholars believe that cholecystectomy is sufficient for such patients and there is no need for extended radical surgery. They also believe that even if surgery is performed to expand the scope of radical surgery, it may not necessarily change the survival rate and prognosis.
