Is physical therapy useful for gout

Diseases are very common in people's daily lives. Gout is a common symptom of the disease, which usually occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. This disease is not only difficult to treat, but also requires recovery treatment after treatment, which is the commonly used physical therapy method. However, many people believe that this treatment method has little effect on the condition. So, is physical therapy useful for gout?

First, is physical therapy useful for gout? All orthopedic physical therapies have different degrees of effect, but the effect is not very fast. For example, hot compress, massage, acupuncture, and electrotherapy are all effective, but the effect is not significant! External application therapy: For rheumatic fever type, joint redness, swelling and pain can be applied topically with golden ointment, jade dew ointment, Shuangbai ointment, etc. For wind-cold and dampness type, warm meridians and unblocking collaterals ointment can be applied topically; for blood stasis type, Wanying ointment can be applied topically. Acupuncture therapy: Acupuncture can be used to select acupoints around the painful area and along the meridians, and ear acupuncture can be used to select tender points. Traditional Chinese medicine ion introduction therapy: You can use 10g of Trillium gracile and 10g of raw Arisaema consanguineum, soak them in 75% alcohol, and use it to introduce ions into the painful area.

Second, gout patients are more likely to develop cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, stroke, thrombosis, and diabetes than people with normal blood uric acid levels. Data show that about 58.8% of gout patients have hypertension, 22.1% have diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance, 75.5% have hyperlipidemia, 15.6% have coronary heart disease, and 2.1% have cerebral infarction. Conversely, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia and diabetes are also risk factors for hyperuricemia and gout. For example, 20.5% and 18.2% of patients with hypertension and coronary heart disease suffer from hyperuricemia, respectively. In addition, every time gout occurs, the condition will worsen, which is medically called "progressive aggravation", so gout must be treated early.

Is physical therapy useful for gout? In order to relieve the excruciating pain, gout patients often take large amounts of analgesics and antibiotics, or even get intravenous drips to eliminate local pain, swelling and inflammation in the joints. Little do people know that the swelling, pain, and inflammation during the gout stage are caused by poor microcirculation in the peripheral blood vessels, which leads to blockage of urate crystals in the blood, which is what Chinese medicine calls "pain due to blockage." As long as the tophi are not ruptured, it is a sterile inflammation. The use of antibiotics will not only fail to solve the problem, but will destroy the body's beneficial bacteria and reduce the body's immunity.
