Can nasopharyngeal endoscopy detect laryngeal cancer?

Can nasopharyngeal laryngoscope detect laryngeal cancer? Many people suffer from laryngeal cancer due to some factors in life. This is a very troublesome thing and needs to be checked in time. So how many types of laryngeal cancer can be detected by laryngoscope? What should patients pay attention to?

How many types of laryngeal cancer can be detected by laryngoscopy?

(1) Indirect laryngoscopy: The doctor places the device in the patient's throat and uses light reflection to see the throat clearly. The examination is painless, but the patient is required to stick out his tongue and make a "yi" sound as required. Using indirect laryngoscopy, clinicians can understand the throat condition of most patients and observe the epiglottis, arytenoid folds, ventricular bands, vocal cords, laryngeal ventricles, and subglottic area. A small number of patients are uncooperative, have sensitive pharyngeal reflexes, and have poor epiglottis elevation, which makes it difficult to observe the throat condition clearly under indirect laryngoscopy.

(2) Direct laryngoscopy is used when indirect laryngoscopy is unsatisfactory or it is difficult to obtain pathological specimens. However, it has been replaced by fiberoptic laryngoscopy because it causes more pain to the patients undergoing the examination.

What should patients pay attention to?

Patients with pharyngeal cancer should eat light and nourishing food, such as fresh milk, eggs, turtle, vegetables, fruit juice, fresh mushrooms, etc. Avoid spicy food, smoking, drinking, and avoid exposure to smoke, nickel, chromium, and X-rays. After surgery, patients have a loss of qi and blood, so it is advisable to replenish qi and nourish blood. Choose almond juice, pear juice, sugarcane juice, pineapple juice, fig juice, jujube juice, etc. Avoid stimulating food, choose the varieties you like, and eat mainly fresh meat, fresh eggs, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits.

Liquid and semi-liquid food should be the main food. During radiotherapy and chemotherapy, patients often have loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. They should choose nutritious and easy-to-swallow food, such as milk, fresh vegetables and fruits. Late-stage patients not only have difficulty breathing, but also have difficulty eating. They should mainly eat liquid food, such as milk, fish soup, etc.

Examination is a necessary procedure before treatment, which is very important, but timely treatment is also crucial, and good care is also required in daily life.
