What medicine to use after bladder cancer surgery to prevent recurrence

How should patients with bladder cancer prevent recurrence after surgery? Postoperative intravesical drug therapy is required. Choose one of the following drugs, once a week, and then change to once a month for a year after 10-12 times. Commonly used drugs include thiotepa 60mg, mitomycin 20mg, doxorubicin 40mg, etc.

For any disease, especially malignant tumors, early detection and early treatment are the key factors in determining the prognosis. People over 40 years old should have a physical examination once a year. If hematuria is found, whether it is under the naked eye or under the microscope, a comprehensive examination must be performed. Even if the ultrasound examination does not find the presence of a tumor, B-ultrasound follow-up should be performed for one year (recheck every 3 to 6 months). Do not mistakenly believe that the disease has healed due to the cessation of hematuria, delaying diagnosis and treatment. In short, the incidence of bladder cancer increases with age, but the disease has a relatively good recovery, with a high cure rate and low mortality rate. Active prevention, early detection, timely treatment, and regular follow-up are the fundamental measures for the treatment of bladder cancer. Postoperative bladder instillation drug treatment is required. Choose one of the following drugs once a week, and change it to once a month after 10 to 12 times for a total of one year. These drugs are commonly used with thiotepa 60 mg, mitomycin 20 mg, doxorubicin 40 mg, hydroxycamptothecin 10 mg or BCG 120 mg.

Cystoscopy should be performed every 3 months after surgery, and every 6 months after 1 year for 2 years. If there is a recurrence, cystoscopy or other examinations should be performed promptly.

The diet should be light, and food should be used as a supplement. According to the specific situation of the patient, a nutritious, high-protein, high-vitamin, low-fat diet should be selected. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid irritating foods. During radiotherapy and chemotherapy, patients often have abnormal taste and loss of appetite. Food seasonings can be added, such as increasing sweetness and freshness, to stimulate appetite.
