Clinical classification of skin cancer

Clinical classification of skin cancer

Skin cancer is a highly malignant cancer. Among the various types of skin cancer, squamous cell carcinoma has the highest incidence, while basal cell carcinoma has a lower incidence. Histopathological examination can effectively diagnose and classify skin cancer, which has important guiding significance for subsequent treatment.

1. Nodular type This type is the most common clinical type. It is characterized by the tumor protruding from the skin surface in a nodular shape, with a relatively uniform color of dark brown or gray-red, and occasionally colorless. The surface of the tumor is mostly regular, or cauliflower-like, or polyp-like, or fungus-like. Ulcers often occur on the surface. The tumor often increases rapidly in a short period of time, ranging from several centimeters.

2. Disseminating type This type has a superficial eczematous appearance, which is mostly developed from the infiltration of in situ melanoma, and the skin around the tumor has eczematous changes. Disseminating type eczematous malignant melanoma has irregular edges, uneven surface, and is gray-black, gray-white, light red and other messy colors.

3. Freckle type This type is mostly developed from freckles in situ. The epidermis near the tumor has freckle-like characteristics. Its edges become extremely irregular, but the surface is flat, and the color is mostly brown to varying degrees, which can also be similar to the spreading type. This type often occurs on the basis of facial freckles in the elderly, but it is less common in my country.

4. Special type of tumor is located deep in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue, is in the shape of small nodules, has clear boundaries, but no capsule, is grayish white or grayish blue, hard in texture, and often accompanied by local lymph node metastasis.
