What are the hazards of advanced laryngeal cancer

1. Benign pharyngeal tumors rarely occur. Those that do occur are usually hemangiomas, fibromas, and lipomas. They often occur in the pyriform sinus, lateral pharyngeal wall, and posterior pharyngeal wall. Hemangiomas appear as red irregular bulges that bleed easily, while fibromas and lipomas appear as submucosal bulges. Early symptoms are atypical, and there may be a foreign body sensation or a sense of infarction when swallowing. Hemangiomas may cause hemoptysis, especially after eating sharp and hard food. Larger tumors may cause difficulty in swallowing and breathing.

2.Malignant tumors of the pharynx are mostly squamous cell carcinomas, and most of them are poorly differentiated, so they are very likely to metastasize to the cervical lymph nodes. Early symptoms include a foreign body sensation in the back of the pharynx, a sense of swallowing obstruction, and when the tumor enlarges and ulcers occur on the surface, it can cause swallowing pain and ipsilateral reflex ear pain, often accompanied by progressive dysphagia. If the tumor does not involve the laryngeal cavity, it will cause dyspnea and hoarseness.

3. Laryngeal cancer is accompanied by long-term sore throat. If the tumor invades deeply, it will block the trachea or esophagus and cause reflex ear pain at the same time, and difficulty in swallowing due to sore throat.

Laryngeal cancer in the late stage can cause great harm to the body. Family members and patients are in great pain before death. We should start treatment in the early stages to prevent worsening of the disease.
